National Perception

I live in the Charlotte NC area, I can say Uconn gets a ton of respect down here. After Uconn won last year, talk show hosts talked how Uconn should be in ACC and many callers agreed. I wear some Uconn gear to gym and guys always ask me about our team and bring up our success.

They're a better team in a better conference recruiting better players, would be my guess.

1 out of 3 ain't bad.

Better conference, yes.

Gorgui Dieng is in the NBA. Yes. That's about it last 5 years.

As for UConn Huskies the last 5 years, Adrien, Price, Kemba, Walker, Napier, Lamb. 6 players.

Whatever the early recruiting sites say about Louisville's classes, UConn has had more talent walk through that door in the last 5 years. I guess it sure is easy to be impressed by the Siva, Smith, Roziers, Jones, Behanan, Samuels, Blackshear type of McDs kids that Pitino grabs. How many of these McDs make the NBA out of Louisville?

Actually only Samardo Samuels and Peyton Siva were McDonald's All-Americans. The rest were either 4 stars or lower. Russ Smith was a 3 star by some recruiting sites. So I agree we've had better talent...

But didn't Siva get drafted by the Pistons? And Samuels is still kicking somewhere I thought...

When I checked, only Dieng was listed. Siva and Samuels are not in the NBA. Siva is NBDL.

.-.
Pitino got the reputation as running an NBA factory at Kentucky after that 96 team had something like eight guys who played in the league at one point. But only Antoine Walker amounted to much, if I remember. Ron Mercer was a big letdown. McCarty had some moments, I guess. He's a master of getting guys drafted who then disappear.

So because Kemba Walker was on the team 4 years ago, that means Louisville isn't better than UConn right now? You people are delusional. We're 7-5. They're 13-1. That's the relevant data at the moment.

Uconn is not a "solid program". 4 National titles does not "signify a very solid program". UCONN IS ONE OF THE ELITE PROGRAMS! ELITE! Gonzaga is a solid program. Wisconsin is a solid program. Butler is a solid program. The announcers are typical espn unimformed biased morons. Im offended by the stupidity of the comment.

Chill the out and stop getting your panties in a wad. I used an adjective in response to the OP using the word solid program, we all route for the same damn team chill people.

Oh, I didn't know you were talking about this month, and excluding last year.

The year UConn won the freaking national championship.

So how do you argue the better recruiting? I don't see Rozier/Jones/Harrell making it. I went back to Kemba for obvious reasons. To see who is in the NBA past their 1st year. It's not like Kemba graduated a decade ago. He left 3 years ago.

Fix your grammar first.
So you are cool with it, so long as his grammar is better?

However, Louisville has owned us as of late. When was the last time we beat them? 2011?

Yup...1-9 in our last ten games against them lol.

"Stronger and more relevant" was the description that prompted this discussion, so I don't know how Kemba or the NBA prospects of current players have any bearing on the discussion. I would think that all but the most delusional would concede that Louisville probably fits the bill.

I'm curious, though, are there any programs that you would describe as "stronger and more relevant" than UConn?

The guy said Louisville recruits better. That may be, but they certainly don't recruit more or better talent.

This is very true, but it's about as relevant as the time PC went 6-4 against UConn over 10.

It's also the type of argument Ville fans trot out about beating UConn 3x last year.

Yeah, they managed to do that, but they couldn't beat a Kentucky team (0-2) that UConn has owned lately, a team that lost 3x to a Florida team that UConn beat twice. Nevermind, Florida and Kentucky, but Louisville also couldn't beat Memphis last year, a team that UConn beat 3x.

As always, the transitive theory of who is best leaves some gaping holes. Using the transitive theory, UConn was miles better than the team that won the 2003 national championship, but I hardly see that argument ever used on these boards.

maybe we don't win it all in 2014 if we don't get our asses whooped by Louisville

I guess I'll take that as a no. Which is what I expected anyway.

Incidentally, this is the post you responded to with "Why?"

I'm not sure about the Louisville trash talk. They have about as good a claim to being a blueblood as we do, and they're definitely the stronger, more relevant program at the moment.

The stupid comment i was offended by was the announcers comment of "solid Program". Im totally chill. I think some of you need a panty adjustment.
