Receive ACC invite. I may even surrender one of the ones we already have.

Winning 2 won’t matter for conference as we will be running AAC finally. This is a coaches conference and may have more marquee names than any other league. This is never mentioned but Hurley Dawkins Hardaway Cronin Dooley Sampson dunphy (mckie) dunleavy haith and of course Marshall may be the best top to (almost) bottom. Sorry USF. Any championship bodes well for this league and may even allow US to expand and offer more sensible conference alignment within (north/south). Let’s get VCU URI (pull Harvard out of Ivy for mbb) buffalo saint Joe’s Cleveland state, and yes UMASS as well. The south is already set up. This gives options for more rivalries and better fan travel as well.

Yes, look how it's boosted the profiles of BC, Pitt and Syracuse!

Our athletic department as a whole just ran a $40 million loss. That is going to have to be addressed somehow moving forward.

Agree. But I'd rather kick that can down the road a bit and win the next two nattys while doing so.

I mean, if we win two of the next five – forget about two in a row – we have six in 25 years. That's the most dominant stretch in the sport since UCLA, and will come just as CR is being discussed again, and will have happened under three different coaches (which proves that the program isn't just about one guy), and given those parameters I like our chances of getting a seat at the grown-ups table.

Plus I have old relatives who'd love to see another title or two before they croak. That beats out the admittedly far superior regular season schedule we'd play in the ACC, Big 10 or Big East.

Oh and ALSO, just imagine how much it would make Cuse, Duke, UNC, Georgetown, Indiana, UK, Kansas etc eat their own livers if we won two more out of the AAC. It would be HILARIOUS and I'm here for it.

If another program wanted to negative recruit against us they wouldn't have to say a word.
They could just direct said recruit to our own fan message board. After all, who would know better than they would?
I'm sure our own coaches eat this up too.

I'm not arguing that it wouldn't have a huge impact on the program. If we had a better chance of getting into a P6 conference on our merits I would consider choosing that option, but as it is I think our chances are in the single digits. I'd rather take the option that gives us a chance to win indefinitely into the future compared to an option where we may not even have a chance to compete for a title in the future depending on how the P6 revolution shakes out (look at football - even if our football team came out of nowhere and put up an undefeated season in 2019, we literally have zero chance to make the playoff).

Where is the "return to the Big East and live out everyone's fantasy by playing DePaul, Creighton, Butler, and Seton Hall in conference" option?
You’re so right. Tulsa, ECU, Tulane are so much better. The AAC is such a powerhouse

I’ll take winning a NC every 5 years if it meant staying in the AAC. It’s all about championships.

I agree, but look at the writing on the wall. The P6 conferences are wielding more and more power every year. In football the American has had a team go undefeated two straight years and they weren't even considered for the playoff. We may not even have a chance to compete for a national title down the road. And that's not even taking into account the viability of our athletic department is we run a $40 million loss every year. Will we be able to keep our facilities modern to compete with the big boys? We've already lost recruits that don't want to play Tulane at 6:00 PM on a Sunday; they'd rather play Duke, Kentucky, and Michigan State on a Monday night.

How much cash do we get per title?
Understood. We are bleeding money which isn’t good. I’d rather be in a power 5 winning every 5 years but we aren’t. We are stuck in the AAC. If this is where we are going to stay then give me that title every 5 years.

How we gonna get those recruits in AAC?

The argument is usually that the conference is holding us back. If we win the next two championships, then obviously the conference isn't holding us back. This is kind of an apples and oranges poll. The staying in the AAC option states that we win championships. The ACC option doesn't state how successful we are going to be in the ACC. If we're winning national championships in the ACC, then I'll select that option. If we're mediocre in the ACC with no national championships, I vote we stay in the AAC. Winning national championship from any league brings more joy than being mediocre.

I thought about it and surprised myself by picking the ACC invite. We've won four natties in the last 20 years and our AD is on life support. If you'd asked me this three years ago I definitely would have gone the other way.

Oh and btw if you make this the Big Ten rather than the ACC, it becomes a slam dunk.

If we win the next 2 championships, not only would we be helping the conference and but we'd become even more attractive to the Big Ten.

This is almost like asking a Patriots fan whether they would rather win the next 2 Super Bowls or play in the NFC East. Geez.
