Still...

17.2 million watched the game on ESPN...a lower number for sure...but more the March Madness final in 2018, 2021...and very close to 2016 and 2022.

And it was a horrible game for continuos watching....
 
I wonder what the ratings were for the Mcafee broadcast vs the regular broadcast.
 
This won't happen once it's a 12 team playoff. That switch to 12 will be the saving grace of college football. The weaker teams will get beat along the way. The final will be massive.

12 teams wouldn't have mattered this year. Ohio State playing that close to Georgia was a fluke. No one was coming close to the Bulldogs if/when they were focused.
 
I thought when Kirby said "we're going hunting", that was a telling attitude.

The hunt became clubbing baby seals until all that was left was red blotches in the snow.

Here's what the 12 team playoff would have looked like this year. The 4 teams with a bye are Conference Champions. That's why TCU is ranked #5. Think TCU would have made the final game? No way!

The truth is that the SEC has some very good teams...that shows up in the CFP when a 13-0 Cincinnati is held to 7 points by Bama...When 12-2 Michigan gets thumped 34-11 by Georgia, when 12-1 Oklahoma gets annihilated 63-28 by LSU, when Alabama beats 12-1 Michigan State 38-0...

It is not that other conferences haven't had a shot...

So TCU didn‘t make the NC game. Before you knew the lopsided outcome last week, would you have rather seen TCU v GA—or—AL v GA in NC game?
One would became a beat down. The other would have been “not those same two again”.
