Napheesa & Paige Bueckers to Represent USA on 3 x 3 Team.

That Paige Bueckers has a flair for the dramatic! She has ended all 3 games with a shot from behind the arc. The team agreed to go for 22 instead of 21 in case a tie-breaker comes into play later on.

The game 3 write up is at

Some interesting quotes.

"We just wanted to play hard and play to our strengths," said 6-foot-4 University of Oregon senior Hebard. "Paige shot well, Naphesa of course did well, Jackie drove really well today, we just played to our strengths and we're having fun."

I am sure the offensive stat line did not do Naphessa justice.

"I don’t think either team played a great game, but I thought we played pretty good defense overall and we’re trying to do little things, like rebound, and that really helped," said Collier, who recently won gold playing with the USA National Team at the 2019 FIBA AmeriCup.

Pheesa was still at 50% for the game.....let's not beat her up too much.

She was 3/7 when my comment was posted, and in that format she is usually 80%.

Has anyone found any games via the Internet. I've checked YouTube, USA basketball, even the Olympic channel and can't find anything.Head bangHead bangHead bang

Can't find anything that was not on the live feed. Only the US Jordan game in Game 2 was captured on the live feed.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Day6, it seems 3 x 3 basketball will be at least part of the live feed based on this preview screen capture

New article by Doug Bonjour about Paige Bueckers reaction to getting picked and what Napheesa thinls about Paige's game and what she telling her about UConn. :D

...

“It’s kind of crazy to think about playing with those guys, but they took me in, and they didn’t really care that I was younger,” said Bueckers, who has scored 15 points on 9-of-17 shooting over the three games. “When I first practiced with them, I was like, ‘Wow, they’re really, really good.’ I knew that. I would expect that. But I was kind of starstruck by it.”

...

“She definitely plays older than what she is,” Collier said. “I think the transition to college is going to be pretty easy for her. She definitely plays like a college player.

“She’s super talented. She’s a great shooter and she gets to the basket really well. She’s pretty well-rounded as a player.”

......

Collier, being the good teammate that she is, has given Bueckers some tips on what life’s like at UConn.

“She said freshman year’s going to be pretty hard,” Bueckers said, “but I know that coming in.”

...

The national team is also expected to play at UConn in January, but Collier won’t be joining them because she’s signed to play professionally for Fenerbache S.K. in Turkey.

No video of the quarterfinals. US off to a strong start again almost entirely due to Jackie Young.

Young 6/7 from the field, Collier & Hebard 2/11.

Brazil has tightened it up considerably.

Upset alert. Brazil takes an 11-10 lead.

Everyone not named Jackie Young is 3/16 shooting.

Brazil wins 14-12.

Collier, Hebard, and Bueckers go a combined 3/18 from the field.

Disappointing.

I imagine over confidence was a big issue. I guess there is a lesson to be learned. Was their a coach traveling with the team?

The America's Olympic Pre Qualifying Tournament is held Nov 10 - Nov 19. FIBA site does not list the location. That's obviously in the middle of College Basketball Season. Shouldn't this team have been composed of players that will participate in the Nov. Tournament? I don't understand how the USA Basketball is managing the 3 X 3 Women's BB Program. Almost all the 3 x 3 Events this past summer have been comprised of different players. The USA has not yet Qualified for the 2020 Olympics. I believe they have to finish in the Top 2 in the Pre Qualifying Tournament to make the Olympics.
