I read "XL Center closes . . . " and thought finally!! But's it's just for renovations.
How about Duracell Center. Duracell actually had offices in Bethel. "No regular arena looks like it, or lasts like it."
Or Timex located in Middlebury. Takes a lickin'...

XL Center closes for multimillion renovation project
Hartford’s XL Center will not host any games, concerts or other events this summer. As of May 20, the XL Center on Trumbull Street is closed for construction. The arena overhaul is more than a decade in the making. “This is our troubled child of all the properties we manage,” said Michael...www.nbcconnecticut.com
Here's a little-known fact. People forget that the Energizer Bunny actually came about as a response to the Duracell Bunny commercials.
Does The Hartford Insurance Company still exist? How about the Hartford Hartford Civic Center?Maybe no one stepped up. Back to the Hartford Civic Center?
Genius! Or how about the UTC - United Technologies Center? Too close to UTI?Does The Hartford Insurance Company still exist? How about the Hartford Hartford Civic Center?
UTC no longer exists. They could go with OTIS but knowing Connecticut they probably went with some other manufacturer for its elevators.Genius! Or how about the UTC - United Technologies Center? Too close to UTI?
Here's a list of notable CT companies, has to be one of these right?:

Definitely. Might encourage more money to go into the XL (err whatever) centerVery interesting quote from Lamont about a potential Connecticut Sun move into the XL. That would be an unexpected positive
Would it? It just creates more possibilities for scheduling conflicts. On the other hand, I suppose it also creates more possibilities for games Gampel, which I view as a good thing.Very interesting quote from Lamont about a potential Connecticut Sun move into the XL. Wouldn’t cause any scheduling conflicts with UConn basketball at least. WNBA season runs from May-Sept. Maybe with concerts or shows, etc.Would it? -> After months of searching, the XL Center in Hartford has a new title sponsor, a company that will pay for long-term naming rights at Connecticut's premier sports and entertainment arena.
Who is it? Despite a deal in principle reached this week, several people told me, the company's identity remains under wraps until we have a signed contract, pegged for early June. <-
-> This much is clear: The price is a lot steeper than the average of $450,000 to $500,000 a year insurer XL Group paid, starting in December 2007…
…"I’m also happy with the fact that it more than doubles the amount of money the XL will get for the naming rights," Lamont said. "Well more."

There are only 22 home games over 4 months so I don't think there would be many conflicts in Hartford.Would it? It just creates more possibilities for scheduling conflicts. On the other hand, I suppose it also creates more possibilities for games Gampel, which I view as a good thing.

I have always and probably will call it The Civic Center forever.@CL82 calling it the Excel Center was probably the last straw. Who wants to pay a lot of money for naming rights when people still have no idea what XL is?![]()
This paragraph in the article had me cracking up:, Viagra night lol:
“Connecticut has been the home of lots of big pharma. Pfizer, the biggest, with a hefty workforce in New London County, doesn't have its name on an arena and the cultural fit just doesn't seem right. Would they host Viagra night? Lipitor Lane in the concourse?”
