The IQ must be the Indefatigable Queen. The box score shows 40 minutes played. She had 11 in the 1st quarter and finished with 18, 9, 4, 4, and 1. Nice game. Minny goes to 7-0.

Big Game Bria!!

She led the team with 20, including 7 in the 3rd OT, as Washington beat Seattle. Bria came off the bench to play 32 minutes.

Stef had 14 and 11, plus a big block on Nneka late. She played 40 minutes.

Nice game for the Mystics, especially the former Huskies!!

That was a pretty darn good game. I mean a 3 overtimes, Stef plays for 40 mins, Bria drops 20 points. Wow what a game!!

Nice confidence builder for Bria and Stef. They played well against a quality opponent. Next game is Thursday against the Sun at Mohegan. I wonder if some of Bria's and Stef's former UConn teammates will be at the game.

Pretty exciting game to be at!

I was afraid they'd go another overtime though cause I was getting hungry... LOL!

It really says something about how good and well prepared UCONN players are - Neither Stef nor Bria were top 3 picks, but when called on, both have performed really really well as rookies. I think this was a strong class that just graduated anyway, but look at how much Skyler struggled her first season, and she's having a terrific 2nd season. Kudos to Stef and Bria, but also to the UCONN staff for preparing them for the next level (as well as helping them win multiple NC's!!)...

The key to the rookies is how well they perform in the latter half of the season after the opponents have game film and an understanding of their tendencies. I have often seen rookies enter the league strong and then fall off later. Not to say that either of these players will fall off and both players are doing well.

For rookies, the season is an extension of the long college season. It makes sense that some would hit the wall. Certainly some have to adjust to the speed and level of play. It's rare that a rookie makes the impact that Candace Parker did. Even Maya didn't dominate as a rookie. Now, she's the best there is, in my view.
