The arena is really nice, i enjoyed being there. the maryland fans made the presence known with their color and voices. I felt the uconn fan base was there maybe not as much as maryland but not bad, not what it should've been. It was a home game for maryland regardless if it was in brooklyn, all the commercials and advertising etc was all for maryland. As for the game, napier played on another level, he flirted with a triple double and hes looking to be pass first. Boat seems to need to work on his confidence when bringing up the ball and running the team but hes still quick as hell with the ball and active on defense. Daniels looked aggressive and needed to brush off the rust, he'll definitely get it going again. The perimeter players are going to be really good especially with daniels being able to work inside, theyll have more space to operate on the wing and they are really good at shooting. I thought the defensive pressure was really good with the steals and blocks but for some reason most of marylands three pointers didnt even have a uconn hand in their face, not sure if it was bc they didnt fight through screens or whatever. This new rule about hand checking and the arm bar is ridiculous, extremely annoying. The two white kids on maryland i felt couldnt stay with our players and kept swiping and bumping our ball handlers whenever they got it which i thought would get called more with the new rules. The freshmen are going to be really good, they didnt do anything outside their comfort zone and for a big time game like that they did extremely well. Brimah is an animal hes all over the place defensively challenging everything, hopefully our rim protector, samuel is going to be very good big fast aggressive.. All and all very good game by our team being the first game on the big stage... Thoughts?

Agree big time on Layman and Smurcyz they did the ole "hand on the hip" when our guys were trying to get by and were allowed that most of the time! If the Terps didn't "have to foul" to get us to the one-and-one they may have had 10 less fouls called on them........considering our guys are quicker that's a little unbalanced. Not to say our guys don't hand check because they do.........glad you had some fun and came away with a W.
