Not sure what your teacher is trying to teach you, but Souleymane Wane is from Senegal and 94% of the population there is Muslim according to Wikipedia.

Nothing wrong with the question if you are studying Muslim culture. For example, Muslims cannot eat or drink from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan. That directly relates to bball players and in particular, I remember some concern about Khalid being able to practice or play well during that time. Imagine a day game where you can't get a drink of water during timeouts. It's a great example of understanding other religions and how things are different. Nothing wrong at all using bball to make a teaching point.

I remember Souley being Muslim. Either a story about him and Ramadan, or something with his thesis (he got a little slap on the wrist from the NCAA for using athletic department telephones to do his thesis research).
