Mullins turnaround jumper

When the team gets fully healthy there will be a minutes squeeze. Mullins is taking 25+ minutes away. Most of them will come from Stewart/Ross. They will have to figure out what do I need to do to stay on the floor. Over the last couple of games I would give the edge to Ross.

It's going to be interesting to see how that 15 minutes is distributed. Could simply be a matchup thing, where a guy like Stew could be a much better option against a team like Florida.

I'm at the point where the only scout I need on a recruit is that Hurley wants him. His hit rate is outstanding.

I'd be more concerned about Tarris vs Florida than if Ross/Stewart lose minutes to Mullins.

Mullins is a volume scorer at 3 levels and his 3pt shot is anywhere past the half court line. Seen that in multiple HS games.

Anyway, Stewart and Ross are primary defensive guys (Ross 1:1, Stewart lane clogging). Both were admirable on D vs Kansas and while Stewarts numbers were low, his presence helped control Kansas frontline. Very workman like a la Freeman style. Ross was a little better but he is more mobile and better 1:1.

So yes, will come down to matchups like Ross on Fland if Boogie is getting going.

Completely off-thread here, reading Tuesday's paper this morning, in an article for the run-up to the Kansas game I discovered that since Bill Self started coaching Kansas 23 years ago, they have only lost at home at Phog Allen Fieldhouse 19 times.

19 losses at home in 23 years, that's a crazy stat. That is how good the Kansas program has been over a substantial stretch of time.
So now it is 20 losses, and we are the big dog in 'The Fieldhouse' now.

Not sure if anyone noticed the similarity of Mullins’ sick turnaround jumper with the one Dybsanta was throwing up on us. It’s an elite level shot and when Dybsanta was doing it against us I felt his talent was something we could only dream of. Turns out Mullins has the same move in his bag. I hope we see a lot more of it.

That turnaround shot can't be defended (other than if some 7 footer is right on him and knows he's gonna shoot it). Hoping to see many more of those swish through the net this year!

6 feet 6. Just like Bernard King with the turnaround J. Hope we see more of this. King became just about unstoppable.

But also, it was right down the pipe, the best angle. Any shot you get off clean right down the pipe is a good shot.

Granted that's not with people in his face or rushing at him, but imagine if he can shoot 60% from 3? That would be legendary territory.

Yeah, I feel like I haven’t seen elite defense from Stewart. With the rise in Mullins play, it will be better for Stew to spell more of Alex. Seems his defense and size would be better on the opposing 4 vs 3 all game
