OT: Movies that you will watch over and over

I rarely watch TV except for UConn Basketball and Survivor. Try and not to miss a game or the show. When bored its Netflix and Disney + if my granddaughters are here visiting. If nothing suits me then I will channel surf for a movie to watch. I believe that this topic was an OT once before. What movie (s) have you watched over and over. I will list five of mine.

1) The Shawshank Redemption - Just an awesome movie.
2) The Godfather - Reminds me of my family except for the crime
3) Remember the Titans - Awesome true story
4) The Blindside - Great story and I watched this NFL Draft
5) The Replacements - Watching the team sing "I will survive" while in jail is worth the watch.

I can go on and on. Tere are plenty more but I mentioned five.

Oh my, yes.
"They're getting married? Goody Two-Shoes and the Filthy Beast?"
I think Father Goose is the very first movie theater memory I have - Bank St Theater in New Milford.
There may have been others that I saw first, but this is the one that stuck...and you're correct, funny movie.
 
Not my first, but probably one of the first three I saw in a theater. Pretty certain it was the Elm Theater in West Hartford, lol. All these years later, and it still cracks me up.
 
When I was in college, I watched "Chushingura" at least two dozen times. It led me to "Seven Samurai" and other Toshiro Mifune movies, like "Rashomon".

I watched "8 1/2" many many times.

Another set of films that I watched many times were by Bergman, especially
The Seventh Seal
Wild Strawberries
Cries and Whispers

But most of all: "Fanny and Alexander"

One of my all time favorites was: "All about Eve"

And "Laura", just to look at Gene Tierney.

And "The Third Man", to watch Alida Valli

Empire of the Sun, john Malkovik and a very young christain Bale excellent war maovie
Educating Rita, love this movie great acting
blame it on Rio , funny and sad.
 
Any Mel Brooks movie, my fav is Blazing Saddles. Watched it the other day on a local TC channel and was very disappointed because they had removed the campfire scene from it. The first time I saw it in the movie theater I ended up rolling on the floor with laughter. Got to find a DVD/Blu-ray somewhere.

Too many others to mention, but I do wear out my Blu-ray disc player with over 1500 disc's.

The Producers and Young Frankenstein are must watches any time they show up on TV in our house. The Producers is one of my wife's favorite comedies.

All three movies are great, but The Producers is hysterical. The ending is absolutely perfect.

"Vat is dis baby? Da fuhrer never said dis baby!" Just typing that, I'm laughing.

Oh, geez, I don't know how many times I've seen the Bank Dick. I love You Can't Cheat an Honest Man and Never Give a Sucker an Even Break, too.

The 1979 P&P is what got me started on a life-long love affair with Jane Austen. I've read everything she's written several times and own most of the dramatizations of her books (although there are some real duds that we never bought).

I love the Philadelphia Story but my wife and daughter don't.

Unfortunately in today's world these movies wouldn't be made, that's why I have so many DVD/Blu-Ray disc's. Some of the movies have parts removed and they're not the same.

Have to admit my wife and I tend to favor older movies (just a matter of personal taste so to speak), but on occasion we do add more recent movies to the films that we tend to watch over and over again. "The Martian" is now one of those newer films that we quite enjoy that we've seen multiple times. "Hidden Figures" is another one as well.
