Great late season summary

Winston Gandy’s first year at the helm following a tough start to the season, sitting in sixth place with a chance to finish above .500 in the league. The Lopes are the only team to knock off first-place San Diego State in conference play, and they also own two road wins over teams above them in the standings.

If current scores hold, Boise St., Colorado St. and UNLV will be in a 3 way tie for 2nd place, with 2 games left after tonight. Hold on for a wild finish!

Boise St. pushed San Diego St. to the brink, but Aztecs prevail by 2. Colorado St. smacked UNLV.

Very excited for this year's tournament. The early season polling here on the boneyard had zero votes for San Diego State who is the number one seed and I would guess favored to win the tournament.

New Mexico looked pretty good last night in their final regular season game. I think the hottest team over the last month is Boise State who faces off against UNLV at 6:30 tonight. This is a game that will determine the fourth seed and coveted bye on the first day.

A loss by the Lady Rebs drops them into a tie with New Mexico. The wandering Lobos earn the bye based on the tiebreaker s.. the two teams split during the regular season so New Mexico has a better record against higher ranked teams.

So this is going to prove to be a great game. I'm driving up early and I'll check into the motel in order to watch the ASU Kitty game which ends an hour before tip at Thomas Mack.

Is Colorado St. locked in at #2 regardless of who wins this game? Winner will be 15-5 tied w/ CSU in the standings.

Half in Vegas....Rebs taking the Broncos apart....35-18. Shelby Brown has been a beast 9 points AND Boards. If the Rebs hold on they jump the Broncos and tie the Rams for a second. And the Broncos and Lobos are tied so I'm not sure who gets the 4th seed.

Both the Rams and the Rebs got swept by the Aztecs (and somehow in some bizarro world Grand Canyon beat the Aztecs) so I'm not sure what is the next tiebreaker.

The fan in front of me said in the pregame show Lindy said that they would get the second seed if they won tonight so she evidently has greater inside into the tiebreakers.

Speaking of Lindy 10 minutes before tip she worked the entire VIP section personally speaking to each fan and then went up and gave the band a big thumbs up. She's obviously the Molly Miller of Las Vegas.

.-.
70-35 now midway thru Q4. BEATDOWN. UNLV has been dethroned by San Diego St., but they are showing they are still to be reckoned with in the MWC.
