Q obviously has some more upside, and her performance so far including last year has been pretty good, but pretty good could mean last in playing time on this roster if everyone was healthy. Last year by the end of the season she was #7 in the rotation out of necessity. This year both Morgan and Allie are getting a few more minutes, and if Caroline was healthy I think she would be behind her too.

That is not a critique of Q, rather a sign of how deep this year's roster is. Q had a PER (player efficiency rating) of about 17 last year which put her in the 65th percentile (above average) but also that was against Uconn's schedule which was much tougher than the average Division 1 team, so she easily could have been in the top fifth or so of Division 1 players, but still this year be near the end of the bench.

We have a tough stretch of upcoming games, but when we settle in to the Big East schedule, all of the talented players that are just outside the rotation will get at least some minutes fairly often to make their case for more time. Whoever does wind up third string so to speak, that will still be a pretty good player that could probably start for most Division 1 programs.

I think a lot of our players are not in place on defense, they tend to follow the ball to each side of the court. How many times have we seen a player set up at the 3 point line on the opposite side of the court from the ball, there's a cross court pass and a UConn player suddenly has to recover and "leap" at the shooter?
Never have been a coach, not sure how it can be fixed. Besides, every other team does the same thing, thus wide open shots all around.
It's a concentration in many defensive assignments to sag off the weak side wing to help cover around the rim so the weak side defender with an assigned area guarding the lane to help stop drives to the basket when the ball is passed to the weak side has to run with arms raised high to try to prevent an open three from the corner. It's a tough assignment.

The weak side defender has to anticipate the skip pass or around the horn passes. It means you have to have serious lateral speed. Paige is as good as there is at that.

Yea...even Paige was out of position a few times last night. Switching and scrambling inevitably will cause this. And IMO even when in position we're still allowing guards to turn the corner and get down hill causing help rotation and leaving open perimeter shooters. It's not just a Q thing by any means.
I am glad someone mentioned this. I don’t know what the defense was. But I thought defenders had too many responsibilities. A player would rotate out to the perimeter and double a Holy Cross player, but that player is also expected to rotate to the corner if the pass goes there. And that seemed like a lot. And our players struggled to do it.

that was clearly a Euro step and a half.......
Lots of players, Hidalgo is one (I’m watching the ND TX game now), take a step then a hop on their outside shots. It’s a travel & I wish the refs would start calling it now instead of waiting to do so in playoffs.

Who says they will call it in the playoffs/tourney?

I didn’t have much reaction to this particular play. It happened when the game was pretty much already over. And I thought the finish was luck. So, my reaction is similar to when a player banks in a three. I am happy and I applaud. But it is not a play I discuss or think about in the aftermath.

Somwhat like Fullwiley (spelling ?) at South Carolina where Dawn is always pissed off at her, but she is their most talented player
I have never heard anyone say that (" most talented player' ) about Q, but coach sees potential. The issue is whether Q can bring to the court on a regular basis.

I do think, that driving to the basket, Q is the fastest(but, she has to make the shots when she gets there). I know, that she made this particular shot, but she has missed a few easy ones earlier in the year. I wish her the best of luck in making steady improvements to her game.
