here

when your starting pg who has been a great asset to this school in year 3 of his life right now in college says that about the ad, is willing to say that and wants to say that......

burn down the place.

no one knows what warde is doing. why? hes all talk and in your face pleasure and relationships. no substance. its all show and no go. thats why no one knows what he is doing. becuase hes not actually doing anything, hes just making it look like hes doing something.

I love 'Bazz as much as the next guy, but when your 20 year old PG thinks the AD should have given KO a long term contract after one win in the opening game, the AD is in the wrong? How did that work out for West Virginia?

Understanding the other side of this, of course 'Bazz is going to stand up for his coach and I always like that he states exactly what is on his mind. No wonder Calhoun loved him.

I'm not the biggest fan of what Warde Manual is doing.

He has certainly earned the fans' wait and see approach. We have to wait for the end result because the process hasn't been inspiring confidence.

With that being said (or more succinctly, "but"), KO needs to sit SN down and remind him to STFU and stay in his lane. Good, bad or otherwise KO needs to make it perfectly clear that they shouldn't be talking to the press about his contract situation nor should players be commenting on how the AD is conducting business. It's a lesson he'll have to learn in life and the sooner the better. An employee shouldn't ever bitch publicly about how the VP is going about negotiating salary packages for the manager.

I don't have any problem with SN or any player saying to the press that they want to play as hard as they can, win as many games as they can, do as well as they can in the classroom and stay out of trouble to help KO get the long-term job. That's what players and leaders in the clubhouse should be saying. We're going to do our best to put our coach in the best position for a long-term contract. Period. Stop there. And don't comment about the AD directly.

He's out of line commenting on how the AD is conducting the coaching situation.

bazz is a smart ass kid. he tells it as he sees it. hes in the building every day so if anyone would see it and be willing to speak it, its bazz. he sees how warde is all talk no game. i would love it if bazz saw warde down and told him to stfu and get some work done. stop looking like a fool going on radio and paper interviews and saying either nothing of substance or stupid things that just confirm to us fans that you are not in the loop and its all susan doing the CR work. ko should have had a legit contract forem the start and u continue to up things. why would bazz think after the msu win that ko might get a contract? for him to have that impression at all means that inside the ad there must be mixed siganls going to the masses. warde has created a mess i tell u all.

It's certainly a red flag if WM hasn't been talking to KO and giving him a clear picture of the situation and when he'll know what's up and what has to happen for him to succeed. When Napier says "We don't know what WM is doing" presumably he's heard from Ollie that Ollie doesn't know what WM is doing.

The rumor was that if players grades were good KO would get the extension. You'd think if that was the case, then KO and SN would know that and SN would not have said what he did.

If WM is taking this to an open hiring process, I'd be disappointed. If he's waiting for the full season to play out, you risk a demoralized team. I think you can see already that KO is a good coach who will represent UConn well. Give him a contract. At least, outline metrics which will get him a contract if he reaches them so he and his players know what they have to do.

Combined with the keeping GDL/losing DB fiasco, if WM pisses off KO and we lose him to either the pros or another school, he will have established himself as a failed AD.

So let me get this straight . . . we have a crappy coach who is ruining the football program and who most folks are not big fans of his. But we take a wait and see appoach even though the process hasn't bee inspiring confidence. And now, ditto for the AD. Any wonder why Uconn is a modern day Titanic? As an aside I do agree with your point about a player criticizing the AD. Not the best of moves.

i am also mad that players grades are even the thought of the contract happening or not. think about how stupid that is. but yet it fits right in with all the other stupid things going on huh? i know we are ending our apr issues this season but the kids grades are not on ko and its actually a negative way media wise to portray ko in any way with the apr. its just amzing how many bullet holes our feet must have by now . if kids fail out then kick them out or fudge the like every other school. ko can only preach the right thing and hope kids execute. your interns and subs in the ad have to work with the players school wise. ko isn't at uconn to do long division and run the 4 square game at recess. hes there to play basketball, win and win some more. the whole thing is just so stupid its unreal. if warde is using the "hey kids get good grades" idea for waiting on ko's contract then thats bullshit. this isn't high school. this isn't coach carter. this is a top 8 all time basketball program who is watching its school get murdered in every other aspect athletics wise and instead of mounting the up and standing tall for everything we stand for, were running the program down the drain with the rest of the athletic dept. unreal. at this point, no matter what excuse warde has from well we wanted to see the kids report cards and make sure they got enough smiley faces on them to we wanted to see ko in action THEY ARE ALL BULLSHIT.

Do we know that players' grades are what is holding up the extension? I'm asking honestly cause I don't follow hoops all that closely. If so, that is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. It's as dumb as simply letting Don Brown walk out the door. I'm not happy with the job WM has done thus far, but I don't think he's as dumb as some here suggest.

should players take shots at ad's? no
but why would they. u almost never hear of this. there must be a reason bazz would say this. wonder what that reason is? bazz is a great kid, he let it be known which players were committed and didn't run when the tough time hit this school. he let us fans know who was a coward and who was a man. did we know a player or 2 we had last year was a character? sure but bazz made sure to point them out as they left town. bazz clearly sees it and wants us to know. just like before, hes a smart kid and knows he must keep the important ppl in the loop with . and when the ad is the issue, the fans must know.

I do not believe for one second that either WM or KO shares any details about the contract situation with the players. So Shabazz knows what we know....nothing. He's a young kid spouting off about something he knows nothing about. I'm sure he is defending Kevin, and I can respect the intent. But Kevin Ollie is a grown man and he can handle this. I have absolutely no doubt that Kevin and Warde have reached an understanding between them. That's how business is done.

I'm as ticked off about the fball situation as anyone. PP is over his head as a head coach. He has shown little ability to manage a game or force his offensive coordinator to adapt to his personnel.
With KO, if he is wrapped up long term before this season is over, we'll be fine. I do think that Manual should have been better prepared to get KO signed on short notice due to JC's age and unpredictable health. But now that fall recruiting is over there isn't any loss. Waiting for one semester's worth if grades isn't the worst tbing an AD can do considering we have little margin of error.

If a coach is talking contract negotiation specifics with the players that would be a huge red flag for every AD.

And I don't think there is any chance KO is talking contract with the players.

I think you nailed it. Manuel and Ollie know what Manuel and Ollie are going to do. and one thing neither is going to do is negotiate this deal in the press. Shabazz should just keep his mouth shut. this isn't the first time he's spouted off on something. He ought to find himself picking splinters for the opening of the next game.

It is hard to even comprehend the level

do u want to go to the b10 and get stomped in every sport, be exposed as a crapy school and get asked to leave faster then a fat girl after midnight at a frat party? susan has the b1gharder under control from that side of it. warde has created a mess, hole place is up in flames. we need contract extensions months ago, a new staff or the coreect in house change months ago. we needed new marketing months ago...and so much more. nothing has gotten done. i dont want to go to the b10 and become umass. i want to go to the b10 and become michigan, florida or texas. if all we can do is umass levle bull , then we shouldnt go anywhere and we should burn down the ad and apply to the ivy league only to get rejected anyway.

I really don't think a kid speaks out against his AD unless he has really thought it through and figures he has nothing to lose because the whole $hithouse is on fire. If this was a common occurrence, that would be one thing. This is a rarity. So, understand when you hear a plaintive cry from those whose first rule in survival is never bite the hand(s) that feed you. KO is the front issue, but the foundation is a lack of respect for an ineffectual poser just playing a role.

For those who continue with this wait and see, we don"t know what they are doing behind the scenes nonsense, I say STFU and take look around. I've been watin but all I have been seeing is more destruction week over week.

I would expect that Ollie will as he certainly should, tell Napier to pipe down and worry about playing basketball. The terms of his contract are between he and Manuel.

"We can win as many games as we want. I still don’t believe it’s going to be in our hands where (Manuel) is going to give him the job."

This statement jumped out at me.

Why wouldn't an athlete answer a question directly asked by the reporter about something every announcer on tv is asking at least 2 or 3 times each game Uconn plays.

Uconn athletics, you can't make this up.

Im sure KO is not happy. Puts him in a very uncomfortable spot.
