Monday (3/11 games)

2 knee injuries for GU in 1 game? Wow, that's terrible. Looks like Townsend was having a great game, 19 off the bench. Only 1 starter in double figures in 2OT is concerning, but lots of scoring from the reserves.

South Dakota St. rolled today and it looks like South Dakota will be joining them shortly in the Summit League title game. Should be battle between those two, might be fighting for only 1 Tourney berth.

Both of those teams are locks for at-large bids, in case they don't win the conference tourney.

Glad to hear it, I wasn't sure.

GU gets a game winning layup by the blue haired Rice w/ 1 second left. They'll be seriously beat up vs. whoever they face tomorrow.

Zykera Rice hits a somewhat amazing, somewhat wild scoop shot at the buzzer to give the Zags the win by 1 point in 2OT.

An incredibly costly game for both teams:

St. Mary's would've had a very good chance at an at-large bid with a win. Without it, not much of one.
Gonzaga won the game but lost two players to apparent season-ending injuries.

Creighton and DePaul in a back-and-forth affair.

I watched the last couple of minutes of double OT. Anyone know if St. Mary's had any fouls to give in 2OT?

My second favorite Men's tournament Final is currently on. Of the Mid-majors... seems like the SoCon final usually produces a good game that goes down to the wire. UNC-Greensboro is currently leading #20 Wofford at the half 31-27. Teams on the Bubble are pulling for Wofford.... cause the general consensus is the Terriers are in win or lose.

They did not.

Wofford is in for sure, single digit seed even with a loss here.

Holy cow. Doug Bruno sounds like he has emphysema and pneumonia and laryngitis all at the same time. He sounds like Marge Simpson's sisters.

DePaul pulled away from a Creighton team that improved a lot toward the end of the season. Sets up yet another DePaul-Marquette title game.

Creighton finishes 15-16, one win shy of a WNIT bid.

Oh really? Did an 11-time national champion join the SoCon? :p

Well you do know about the former SoCon members dont you? You probably have heard of a few of them

Gonna be a sad night in Greensboro :(
What happened to UNCG? Up 55-50, now down 66-55??

Will the SoCon be a one-bid league after all?

Wofford put the clamps down on Alonso..... UNCG has scoring problems at times... and if Alonso or Miller arent scoring.... they dont have many other consistent scorers. I thought if UNCG made the field... they would be a troublesome opponent for a higher seed. 6 losses all season.... at top 10 LSU.... at top 5 Kentucky 3 to Wofford... and 1 to a Furman team that was ranked earlier in the season.

Baylors defense is outstanding!

The offense though goes through a lot of major scoring droughts....

Nalyssa Smith was really good in the first half. Moon Ursin plays just as good as defense as anyone on that team.

Didi Richards needs to shoot the ball when she is 5 feet from the goal and no one near her. Her not even attempting to score is problematic sometimes. They are giving her literally all the room in the world.

South Dakota State is a 6 seed and South Dakota is a 7 seed. If either of these are not in and Tenn is then it is a shame that the committee would reward a team seeded as an 11 over a 6 and 7.

Former LV Middleton having another excellent game breathing non-holly air.

State just 2-12 from 3. If they can get a few of those to go down in the 4th ....
though no doubt Baylor's D has something to do with the %

Plebe said both are locks, I'll take his word for it.

Iowa State giving Baylor a stiff challenge. Whatever happens here, they've pretty much sewn up their hosting spot, I'd say.

Middleton having a great game. She's not known for her scoring but she had a season-high 24 yesterday vs. Texas and already 18 today.

Baylor's defense is just so tough. Their offense can be choppy at times but that defense erases a lot of offensive flaws.

Baylor finally clamping down hard. up 59-46 with 5' left

Yeesh. 9 Big 12 tournament titles in the past 10 years for Baylor. It's like Stanford in the Pac-12 in the 1990s and 2000s.
