Monday 11/4

Dugalic is not a bad player, but I don’t understand starting both Gardiner and Barker off in the bench. I’ll be especially curious if cori does that against the two uscs.

She's not a bad player at all. But, she was in the starting lineup today and ended up with zero points.

They have 9 new players and only 2 returnees that will likely play big minutes. A lot to integrate.

It certainly didn't help that returning starting Center, senior Rayah Marshall scored zero points in 34 minutes

Olivia Miles ain't missing a beat! I love that she is back! I love her overall game. She has great court vision and great basketball IQ
About to drop a triple double.

What is a Mercyhurst?

Gardiner is just a better player. But I understand wanting to be loyal to a player that has been in your program longer.

I was surprised Karlen didn’t play. But I haven’t really paid attention to Notre dame’s offseason. Only 7 available. One scored 0. Similar issues to UConn with their depth right now.

Do they play anyone good any time soon?

Duquesne got a nice win against Princeton. Meg McConnell w/ 24 points.

.-.
Clara Strack looked good late in the season when Kitley got injured for VA Tech. She followed her coach to Kentucky, 22 in her debut there today. Fellow VT transfer Amoore was in play making mode w/ an 11/10 double double.

Karlen injured her ankle in the exhibition game last week. ND's been silent on the severity of it. So hopefully she'll be back sooner than later. ND plays Southern California 11/23. Then Texas and UConn in December. Plus games against TCU and Utah for Thanksgiving. Definitely some cupcakes, but I'm glad we are starting off with cupcakes. Since we aren't healthy. The USC-Ole Miss game was so physical with so many foul calls. ND needs healthy players.

A couple of others things going on.

Manhattan is playing Rutgers. Hana Muhl is a starter.

The power 5 teams are standing pat so far today. Missouri does trail Vermont by 11 in the second quarter though. That’s something to pay attention to.

Macey Huard had a decent Fr. season at Montana. She transferred to Oklahoma St. and she's going off today. Daughter of former QB and current tv commentator Brock.

Today's game was an exhibition game for ND, no? Mercyhurst? Never heard of them.

Go Catamounts!

No they’re D1. Located in Erie PA.

Hockey had been D1, but rest of sports just moved up this year to the NEC (same conf as CCSU).

Thanks. I just looked them up. Maybe ND is helping out a fellow Catholic school?

Huard finished w/ 31. Probably not what you would have penciled in for a player who averaged 7 pts/game playing in the Big Sky last season.

First women’s game ever on TNT/TBS tonight?

PBP is familiar — Spero Dedes I think?
Grant hill and a woman as color

More networks generally good but one problem is that already are so few good WCBB commentators; almost all work for ESPN, a few others for Fox, leaving almost none for anyone else.

Missouri did end up losing. And Fairfield is pounding Arkansas. (That one is probably not a surprise. Fairfield is probably one of the stronger mid majors.)

The big east went 2-0 today. Saint John’s and Providence beat teams you would expect them to beat.

Nah anytime a low major crushes an SEC team that’s NEWS.
Dunno if that says more about Fairfield or Arkansas.

My Mustangs of SMU pick up their first victory as a ACC member. Unfortunately it was at the expense of my Aggies of NC A&T

SC down 1 at the half!

SC does have some big bodies that are going to be a challenge for a lot of teams.

I didn’t realize you were accepting non-NC (or adjacent) schools as “your” teams. That brings 300 more schools into play as contenders for the TSA (Triad Seal of Approval).:D

Arkansas picked last in the SEC preseason poll. Still, Fairfield is a well-coached team. Mike Thibault's daughter has a bright future.

I thought USC and UCLA looked tough today. Also good efforts by Louisville and Ole Miss.

Exciting half for SCar - Mich that should make everyone happy. It's entertaining. SCar hasn't looked nearly as tough. Michigan has forced small ball and is winning it.

Eek looking at Fairfield’s sked, they’re probably gonna regret not having more challenges to impress the committee. Top game will probably be vs OkSt in a few weeks.
