Monday 11/4

Ole Miss survives a horrible shooting first quarter. Trails by 2 into the 2nd.

No game threads. Quarter update only.
Unwatchable. Kinda looks like...the first game of the season, for 2 teams who had to travel a long way to get to the game.

I’d assumed that Kiki’s last name was iriAFen. Didn’t realize it’s iriaFEN

So...why are these games in Paris? Lower bowl is mostly full, but the upper bowl the lights are out and nobody is home. Gotta think they could've drawn a much, much better crowd if this was in Vegas or somewhere else in the U.S.

What happened to Rayah Marshall? I thought she was going to be a star. Scoreless today, only took 1 shot. von Oelhoffen didn't score until a pair of FTs very late in the game. USC needs more balance than that. It was pretty much Juju, Iriafen and Kennedy Smith scoring.

26 TOs is a major red flag. Of course some of that is a credit to Ole Miss' defense, but plenty of it was just sloppy ball handling and really poor passing. Juju had 9 of those, and only 4 assists.

KK Deans hit a bunch of big shots. Juju took over in Q2, but other than that she really wasn't much of a shot maker, her scoring is dependent on drawing fouls.

Drake was in some trouble early but a big 2nd half carried them to the win against North Dakota St. 22 pts/13 reb for Anna Miller and 19 pts/6 assists for Katie Dinnebier.

Paris is an event that teams will go for. Probably can do an alumni tie-in who want to travel, like they’ve started to do with CFB. Also could grow the game a bit by exposing it elsewhere.

A nonconference game in Vegas (or elsewhere) to start the season isn’t as appealing.

Juju did have a nice stat line w/ 27 pts/10 reb/4 assists/3 steals/5 blocks. It was the blocks that really stood out to me.

Vanderbilt wins by 52 (congrats!), but Leilani Kapinus didn't play. What's tea? Is she injured or?

It's early, but man--I'm not impressed with Southern Cal. The talent is clearly there, so hopefully they'll gel as the season progresses.

Seemed like two tough tournament teams but the offense seemed a concern for both.

The politically correct answer is "to help grow the sport globally". Not sure how many men's games are being played in Europe this season; but if there aren't any, then the women's game isn't gonna be the trend setter, IMO.

UCLA bringing Gardiner and Barker in off the bench...not many teams have a pair of starting front court players that good. Unfortunately w/ Rice and Leger-Walker out, the back court is where they need help.

Another sloppy, grind it out game here in Paris.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what the end game is. How much do people watch American sports in Europe? I know the NFL and NBA have some games internationally, but I have no idea what the actual pay off is for doing this.

Yep. I stated in the summer that UCLA has the deepest and most talented front court in the country. Gardiner was a steal from the portal and can help stretch the opponent's defender all the way to the 3 point line.

Dugalic will see her minutes dissipate if Gardiner keeps playing like this.

Not very pretty, but UCLA will get the win. Betts tallied 5 assists, most of those were on kick outs to Gardiner for 3's. Timea was 5-7 behind the arc, the rest of the team was 3-16.

Yeah not going to lie, coincidentally I'm actually in Paris right now, and even I couldn't be bothered to go see this. Not sure who the natural audience is here.

Dugalic is not a bad player, but I don’t understand starting both Gardiner and Barker off in the bench. I’ll be especially curious if cori does that against the two uscs.
