I know it's only one exhibition game but I was very encouraged by MoJeff's numbers vs Gannon.
First off, the quality of the competition. This was about as good a Division 2 team as you'll see. Probably better than some of the teams in the new conference. Gannon returned all five starters from a team that easily beat a pretty decent UCSD team (22-11 in D1) last year.
As for the #s: 13pts on 4 shots, 6 assts, 1 to, 1 block, 4 stls. All in 17 minutes. Those are extraordinary stats. I've been closely following UConn's box scores for fifteen years. Even against subpar competition those are extraordinary numbers. Regardless of competition it is exceedingly rare to see those kind of #s outside of our very top (read AA) players.
Could it have been a flike? Of course. But I have a hunch Moriah is going to make a big siphomore leap. Which would be bad news for the rest of wcbb.
