I agree it's probably not a coincidence he grouped Hami with all the UConn accounts but it's dumb to never count out Calipari. A UK offer would scare the out of me.
Does it still come with the gym bag of cash?

Enough of the bean poles, go get a solid big man. Talented will say that!!

Seriously? Who cares if he's a beanpole? We're looking for talented players, not "players who look good". If you only care about appearances, a new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is coming out in 10 months.

Yes seriously, don't get me wrong, he's talented and would love to take him. Having said that, you or anyone else can't deny we haven't had a true post man in a while who can rebound, block shots and actually score. Okafor may be the most recent big guy that even comes to mind and checks all of those boxes.

If I remember correctly, there was this one guy named Thabeet or something?

Thabeet, that's your come back? I seem to recall a Pitt forward named Blair who tossed him like a rag doll, again bean pole. Emeka was the real deal..

You seem to recall one bad play so that negates everything else he did? Good one.

Yeah, more than one play, don't act like T was the real deal. His NBA career says it all. Emeka was the real deal...next...

Thabeet was the national defensive player of the year and absolutely dominant on that end of the court. Not to mention, went to the Final Four. Blair's cheap shot body slam doesn't erase that.

so we haven't had a "true post man" since that time we had the national player of the year...wonder why can't we just get a few more of those guys?

His NBA career says everything about his UCONN career? That seems like the exact opposite of actual reality.

Please, yes he blocked shots, good defensive, not disputing that but you and anyone else can't honestly say he was a go to guy for any offense, so yes Okafor has been pretty much the complete package C/PF we have had in a while. Have there been some nice parts, yes, but nothing like Emeka.

Um, actually no, his short lived NBA career says a lot.. Don't act like Thabeet put the fear in anyone offensively ...that's the opposite of reality.

Sweet goalpost moving.

Don't know ask our coach, that's not his type of 4 or 5 man, not knocking him, love coach, Boone, Emeka, King, Jake, etc, were more Calhoun style players..

During his Junior season Hasheem averaged 13.6 pts, 10.8 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game. That's a ridiculous stat line. Emeka averaged 17.6, 11.5 and 4.1 his last year. Not a mammoth gulf between the two.

Yeah, it is good. And I guess we're done here since it only took 3 posts for you to abandon your original premise.
Who's abandoning, if you or anyone think Thabeet can hold a candle to Okafor or think he was this mega star, I will have what ever it is your sniffing. I liked HT, but I would not be calling for a play to run through him if we needed a bucket down low to open it up for the outside guys, that my friend is what Emeka did game in and out in college and if it weren't for his neck injury, he would still be relevant in the NBA...

Please all garbage put backs etc, his offensive game and post moves couldn't hold a candle to Emeka, again which is why he had a longer NBA career and would still be playing if not for an injury. Teams still wanted Emeka if he came back, didn't see anyone knocking down doors for HT to come back, nice try though...

That average would have made him the leading scorer on this year's team.

Dude, this is such a dumb argument. You really think the people saying they want a more physical big man are asking for him for esthetic purposes or for some sort weird fetish? Even for a joke that was weak. We want a more physical big man so that when teams with bigs like Shaq Goodwin come to town our big man doesn't get absolutely manhandled down low. At one point when Memphis was at Gampel down the stretch they just kept going to Goodwin because no one on our roster was physically capable of containing him, skill level completely aside. Shaq scored maybe a dozen consecutive points, that's a problem and a mismatch waiting to happen. Would you rather it happen to us in the NCAA tournament like this year against Josh Scott or the Kansas front court?

You can work your biceps all day and get a nice picture while flexing but it won't help you one bit under the rim while boxing out an opposing defender.

Please, don't go there, he would be getting garbage points, no plays would run through him, he couldn't catch the ball down low...

So the reality that the only real difference in their stats was 2 baskets a game doesn't sway you? Standard boneyard logic. Who cares how they scored their points? If getting put backs was so easy why didn't Emeka score 30 a game with his great post moves?
