Mock WNBA Draft

If Tuck were to declare for this year's draft, I believe the Sun would draft her. That's what Sun fans want. The Sun have a stacked front line. Tuck would be the 5th post player, and I'd be surprised if she got more than 10 mpg as a rookie.
Shouldn't be too hard to survive that.

I dunno.... she already said she wants to get her masters. This is a ball player who actually likes going to school. She should probably just go ahead and get her masters, and try for what will probably be a forever unmatched 5th national title. These are the kind of things that are more valuable than an early $45K for a season of WNBA.
I agree. In another thread I said much the same thing. There is nothing that she will do in one year as a pro that can compare to what is possible if she stays here at Storrs. Of course if her mind is made up then she should leave and pursue her dream, but taking four-five months off, rehabing as much as she can, and then being nursed through another collegiate season, one where her leadership, example, and timely play, might lead to another title, would deliver her to stand alone status among legendary Huskies and it's an opportunity that she alone will ever have.

Fortunately she'll make up her mind without the benefit of our advice, and unless we've misjudged her completely she'll make the choice that's right for her.

The bigger question is whether Tuck will last a full season in the WNBA with her knees.
That is the question, isn't it? I think so, but I think Europe would be too much.

Can't she bypass the wnba and play International ball? International pays a lot more. She has a big name in terms of the draft. .

You don't use the 3rd pick of the draft on a 5th post player. If she comes in, others will be going.

That sounds like the right move to me. Take the summer off.

Tuck at 4 is very risky, given her knee history. Last year she was relatively healthy, but this year she seems to be struggling with the same knee again.
Tuck will return to UCONN.

I'd put Tiffany Martin at least at #3 (depending on the team's needs). Whoever made up this mock draft is a mock draftmaker.

I am surprised that she is not already working on her Masters Degree. Baylor has four players who have already completed their undergrad degrees and are working on their Masters Degrees.

I would put Courtney Williams from South Florida as my number 2 player. I think that after Stewart that she will have the biggest impact for her team. That girl can flat out play.

I'd say that Martin is a better rebounder and just as good a scorer. YMMV though.

Martin is certainly a great player and will probably will be the POY in the Big12 this year. But Williams has the advantage when it comes to speed. Alexis Prince virtually shut Martin down the last time that Baylor played OSU, limiting her to 12 points, and there are much better defenders in the WNBA. But Martin did have an impressive 11 rebounds.

I've watched her play many times and as much as I love Moriah, I would take Courtney second. You can have the Tiffany girls and all the other guards, I'll take Williams. She shot the ball too much early in the season but once they had some other scorers step up her stats are getting a little better. She can jump through the roof and rebounds like a big post. Last UCONN game she went up over Gabby's back to take a rebound from her. If she had gone to UCONN she would be serious NPOY threat to Stewie. JMHO

And let's not forget that San Antonio already has a pretty good PG in Danielle Robinson, which is why it surprises me that mock drafts have them taking a PG with their pick. If San Antonio wants to take a guard I think it will be a shooting guard, such as Williams.

Stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope the Connecticut Sunday takes Courtney Williams and Rachel Bonham. They need to add scoring from the backcourt to go along with Bentley. They are loaded in the Post

Isn't Baylor's Alexis Jones eligible for the draft since this is her fourth year in college?

She sat out a year due to transfer. She is eligible, just as Morgan is eligible, I believe. But my guess is that Alexis is sticking around Waco for another year.

Give upthe well for the 2nd pick, have Moriah with Sue, and Stewie for a couple years.
Good call!! Moriah is once in a lifetime both sides of the ball super dominant. Coach can just flip the switch and instantly shutdown Jewel and most other gaurds. Even when her victim flips on their back and scratches, slaps and claws, she relentlessly paints herself to her PREY. And she has that extremly reliable three ball that she uses so judiciously.

Has no one considered that the Sun could package 3rd and 4th pick for SA number 2? Sun get a superior point guard, which they desperately need (and SA doesn't) while Sun doesn't need another big -- especially one with a chronic injury.

Of course, if they know Mo won't be SA's pick, then none of this applies.

The two picks are too high a price for the #2. If Ct really wants Moriah, they might involve a third team, trading one of the two draft picks (going to SA) , with current roster members being traded among the three teams.

I like your thinking. I am hoping that the lure of getting a chance to win a NC in front of her friends and family next year in Dallas will convince her to return.

I would try to package #4 with a player to move to #2 - personally I think Thomas is superfluous to their needs and might be appealing to SA, though I think that might be more than necessary and they might something else in return. I think there is a good chance that SA does not want to select Moriah and might take a little PR hit if they don't bring a Texan back to Texas so they might be more willing to make a trade back one or two spots.

New Dishin & Swishin coming 3 pm ET on Hoopfeed.com today, with ...

MORIAH JEFFERSON as my first guest....then

LIN DUNN on Moriah's WNBA potential, and Banham as well.

Why would anyone take that trade? Maybe Jewell and next year's #1 and another player.
