The SoCon starts later today...... unfortunately I will be preoccupied most of the day at the ACC Tournament. My UNC-G Spartans are the best team in the league... but they were swept by the #1 seed Samford.

My UNC-Greensboro Spartans advance to the semis of the socon with a 57-47 victory over ETSU. Next up.. A showdown with Mercer. Uncg leads the season series 2-0, but it's hard to beat a 8-22 team three times in the same season

Attendance: 3,254 Thats pretty darn good for a quarterfinal in a low mid major.

Player of the year Nadine Soliman with a prayer of a shot with 0.2 seconds in OT...... wins it... 75-73. My UNCG Spartans will play for the chance to go to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998... Sunday at 12est

I checked earlier.... the whole tournament book costs $40 bucks and is general admission. I cant go to all the games...... but since this is the first tourney hosted by Elon........ I'll be there to check out the semi's, final, and some early round action

Yeah I saw that. Omaha is a really bad team, but South Dakota has been demolishing everyone in their league. It’s too bad they won’t get a chance to host in the NCAA tournament because I definitely think they’re on par with the 4 seeds.

I don’t think it’s that. The idea of this is more about protecting the top 2 seeds from having to play 3 games in 3 days, which makes some sense to me.

I did misspeak slightly. The Southland is only an 8-team tournament, so it’s technically a double bye for the top 2 seeds (to the semifinals) and a single bye for seeds 3 and 4.

Socon Final today... UNCG vs Samford. Samford is the only conference team that My Spartans havent beaten this season. .... imma be a nervous wreck in the Coliseum trying to keep up with the game and the FSU-State game. If they both lose... imma be sick as a dog. I would almost be ok with a UNC-G win and a NCSU loss.. but.... man...

Samford 25 UNC-Greensboro 18 at the half

UNC-Greensboro held a 54-52 lead with a little over two minutes to go, but go scoreless from there. Samford hit the go ahead 3 with 20 seconds for the game winner. Soliman missed a three with 10 seconds to go.. and the bulldogs get a layup to make the final 59-54. Four Senior starters wanted to bring home a Socon title for the first time in 22 years, but alas they fall short.

The much maligned (on the BY) MEAC starts play Tuesday up in Norfolk. Since the men's and the women's tournament is played in the same arena... they have a weird schedule. The #1 and #2 seeds start Wednesday, while the #3 and #4 seeds start play Thursday
