Peeking in at other scores during the Iowa-Michigan State game:

Notre Dame is up by only 5 against Lehigh in 2Q. At least they're doing better than their football team!

Some interesting matchups set to start at 2p Eastern:
  • Fla. Gulf Coast @ Duke
  • UCF @ Quinnipiac
  • Belmont @ Tennessee

Apparently Lehigh has a Megan Walker. I just saw that she did something against Notre Dame in the play by play. Either that or megatron just wanted to go get some practice in against ND this week

NCST tied with Davidson at the half.
Duke up 5 on FGCU at the half.
SC up 4 on Furman at the half.

Depaul lost yesterday. Didnt see a thread about that.

I dumped it into the non-UConn news thread. I watched the last several minutes of it.

The biggest surprise there is Davidson hanging with NC State. Lots of teams with holiday hangover in their first game back.

Belmont is giving Tennessee all they can handle. Down by 1 going into the 4th quarter

Has there ever been a team that plays down to mediocre competition as much as Tennessee??

Belmont actually took the lead for a minute at 64-63 and then 66-65.
Then TN went on 12-2 run to close things out

Duke downs FGCU. I was actually worried about the game.... our zone vs a mad bombing 3 point shooting team. FGCU went 7-37 from 3 point territory

Jade Williams 17pts 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Her best game ever in a Duke uniform. Boykin with 10 points and 7 assists just one turnover. Goodchild with 15pts.

Maybe I'll celebrate with 5 hot dogs and 2 cheerwines

Perhaps it is mentioned elsewhere, but Muffet McGraw has reached the 900 win plateau today with ND's 95-68 win over Lehigh.

that should lessen the sting from yesterday's arse whooping at the hands of the clemson tigers.

Which brings up the interesting OT question of why ND football doesn't compete in the ACC (I mean, I sort of know the answer - "We're Notre Dame, and You're Not" - but still).

UCF survived a tough defense-dominated game at Quinnipac, 47-45, after trailing by double digits in the first half. Quinnipiac had a chance to tie or win on the final possession, but Jen Fay missed a contested jumper.

Kay Kay Wright led UCF with 17 points.

I'll take credit for saying in the Oregon State game that Williams has tremendous potential. See, all she needed was some confidence

Because they finagled a mysteriously lucrative contract with NBC. Just because, hey, they're special.

I only see a few great teams this year....maybe 5...the rest are just good or average. UCONN, ND, Miss St. Louisville, Maryland maybe great...Oregon, Baylor, Stanford maybe good...the rest...any given night they can be beat by a lesser team....IMO.

But Oregon already beat Mississippi State.

St Johns must have played their best game against UConn at the Paradise Jam, because Seton Hall beat them by 10 points and we beat them by 38.

.-.
Why is South Carolina still ranked in the AP Top 25, they haven't beat anyone that is close to being ranked. I believe that Utah should be ranked ahead of them and think they will finish behind Miss St, Kentucky, Tennessee, and maybe even Texas A&M in the SEC.

I don’t know if you can say that about Maryland. They don’t play anyone to prove what they have

South Carolina beat Furman 66-53 and the game was closer than the final score. MSST beat Furman by 60. SC will probably climb in the rankings.

They are not ranked in the coaches poll...

I am more or less talking about neutral court games that will be in place tournament time. Home court advantages are real.
