That's surprising to me. Michigan isn't known as a full-court pressure team, and Minnesota has the quicker guards, or at least I thought.
 
Whalen will get that fixed.

22-20 MICH at the 2nd quarter media break. Teams seem pretty evenly matched. Michigan fouling more.

Are you not watching the game? Only following the stats?

If I wasn't watching this game I wouldn't believe it. Michigan's full court pressure has forced a lot of Maryland Michigan turnovers. Michigan finished the 2nd quarter on a 21-2 run and is leading 40-22 at the half.

Minnesota with 14 turnovers in the 1st half. That's a lot :eek:

Wow. Maryland is losing 2 games on the same day. ;););)

Of course, I should not talk. I said Whelan would fix press issues.
 
MIN players were at shoot-around at 7:30 AM, which probably means they woke up at 6:30 AM. I wonder if they're tired/didn't get enough sleep because they look it. Started making mistake after mistake, and Whalen didn't use her timeouts... just let them bleed.

Ha, well, she still has time to fix those issues. But man those last 6 minutes of the half were ugly.

According to the box score, she called 2 timeouts. One at 5:24 of 3Q 2Q, another at 3:40.

Minnesota is not a good shooting team. Bell takes the most shots and in this game and the Wis game she is a combined 9 for 37.
 
So if Michigan upsets Minnesota, it will mean that all 3 of the Big 10's pre-season top contenders (ie. MD, Iowa, Minn.) lost on the first weekend of conference games. Of course, Michigan State was not ranked early on.

I was talking about the first half debacle. I'm not sure if the BTN+ graphic works correctly for timeouts, but if Whalen had any left, she definitely needed to use them.

Sorry, that should have said 2Q. She called 2 timeouts. I don't blame her for not calling any more than that.
 
I tell ya, two of the biggest stories in this game are all the Minnesota turnovers and the fact that Taiye Bello, one of the national leaders in rebounding, only has 5 rebounds late in 3Q.

I do not have BTN+ so I cant see the game. Curious about Whalen's demeanor during this blow out. I don't think she was very verbal as a player so how is she as a coach? Calm, chewing out the kids, throwing things/clothes?

I've barely gotten any glimpses of her. This is a student production and I think they're showing the same video as what the crowd is seeing in the arena.
