I'm not quite sure what you want him to do. "This fat kid is scoring a lot but keep in mind everyone: UCF still blows!" Is that it? How about "This Temple team is garbage and you should turn the channel!" I don't quite understand why Patrick shouldn't have gotten excited when that 400-pound kid scored his first points of the season -- and then kept scoring and turned a laugher into at least an interesting game.

Part of their job is to make the game seem exciting.

(I'm guessing you're not a Kevin Harlan fan.)

Watch a Duke game from 1996. He may have loved UConn but Coach K could have taken out a restraining order, Dickie V was so obsessed with him and Duke. (Not that that's changed, but I think it may have even been worse back then.) "OHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! THE CRAZIES!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST FANS IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!!!! 1500 SAT'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

After we beat them in '99, he looked like someone had murdered his whole family in front of him. (Meanwhile, Digger Phelps was beaming, which is why I still like him no matter how many dumb things tumble from his mouth.)

I don't hate him, he's just over the top. Again, a lot of announcers do games with bad teams and don't try to make it into a clash of the titans.
Kevin Harlan is the best.

Early years he was a college basketball fan(atic) who called games. IMO It seemed when Coach Valvano died, he became personal friends with coach k, and since then has been enamored with all things associated with k.

It went from being all things basketball to all things dook. In other words from being a college basketball ambassador to dook's ambassador. He tried to befriend uk recently but he seems unable to have two lovers.

Its really a sad story, because he was once the greatest promoter of college basketball ever and for that he does belongs in the HOF.

so did I, my first time hearing him do a game and not in the studio and I thought he was pretty good. Also did a nice job of selling the national audience on KO's coaching abilities and reputation like Greenberg and Elmore have done this season.
 
If Dee Rowe could ever get Cousy to do our games; then we would learn something.
 
...and we get Patrick + Elmore calling tomorrow's game against Cinci.

I gotta admit, Patrick is annoying me less and less as the season goes on.

I really like Greenberg, I am pretty sure he called the last UC-UConn game...Patrick is another story. Hate that guys voice.

I like Greenberg...I also just noticed after looking at tcf15's vid of the Pitt/UConn 2002 BET final that the play by play guy who did the past 2 CBS broadcasts with Gillen was a sideline reporter for ESPN back then and bombarded Caron after that classic with idiotic questions about whether or not he had played his last Big East game. JC basically had to come in and save Caron and told told him to go celebrate with his teammates, guy was/is an idiot.

And he again called Bazz "Shabozz." With these multiple paraphasias during multiple coverages of a team with whom he should be very familiar, it's like he's really developing primary progressive aphasia or something
 
Another terribly called game by Patrick. Dude is too old to be doing this. He can't remember anything and screws up everything else. I really liked the time ten minutes into the second half when he said Cinci had only scored 4 points this game. Obviously he meant the half but he's got great grampa memory problems.

I'm not religious, but if there is a God, I'm gonna thank him every day from here on out that Patrick and Gillen aren't on the same network. Could you imagine if we were stuck with BOTH of them for a game?
 
Well I take back anything bad I said about Patrick. Just gushed over Bazz and UConn in the middle of the Pitt-NC State game. Said Napier the likely AAC player of the year.
 
As long as we keep racking up W's with Patrick he can call Bazz Shawn Napier for all I care.
