Outside of the P6, AAC, and MW, I'd say Grand Canyon and Dayton have the best shots of at-large bid if they falter in their conference tournaments. They've both got solid NET and Kenpom rankings and are two of ten teams with 3 quad 1 wins.

Grand Canyon is excellent but their biggest issue is that they give up too many turnovers. However, they just got back their starting PG after he was recovering from an ACL injury, so that’s a huge return, considering their weaknesses.

good list, added a few that I think you missed. These schools might be mid-majors on the on the fringes but they still have a shot too (if they can win out against their sub par remaining competition)

You do have a great sense of humor and I appreciate your posts
I suppose as a Cincinnati basketball fan these days having the ability to laugh in the face of realty, is a necessary to get you through the day .

As someone who follows George Washington, unfortunately they can be crossed off your list. Their SOS is literally pitiful and their record is a mirage. It’s nice to see them win games — their season has been over by now for the last 5 or 6 years — but I will be shocked if they’re ready to be a top 4 or 5 A-Ten team.

mcneese state just dominated michigan. they would probably finish in third place in the big east. legit chance they win 30 games this year.

You scouting future head coaches?

Cincy w another huge win tonight over Evansville. Monster OOC schedule for the Bear kittens. Definitely a mid major worthy of watching.

Talk about a murderers row:
Illinois Chicago
Detroit Mercy
E Washington
N Kentucky
Howard
FGCU
Bryant
Merrimack
Stetson
Evansville

What a relief it will be to get into Conf play

Really need to include the wins to assess.

A10 appears to be better than the last couple years. Conference games will be bloody, but in the end it could be the automatic qualifier + Dayton (or pick your flavor).

Yep, the A-10 is shaping up to be the best its been in five years or so.

You mentioned Dayton, but Saint Joseph's, St. Bonaventure, VCU and Duquesne are all as good as projected while teams like GW, La Salle and Richmond are exceeding expectations. George Mason, UMass, Davidson and Loyola-Chicago all solid too.

To be honest, the honest teams who have disappointed so far are Saint Louis and Fordham. Fordham's offense post Quisenberry/Moore plain stinks, but I'm curious to see them live again next weekend when they play Dunphy's La Salle squad.

The only team that stinks and was expected to stink is URI.

Sure is, seems like they've made quite a commitment to Athletic success. Institutional, State or combo I wonder.
I think someone posted earlier in the football season that, beyond tuition, room and board there is an "athletic fee" at JMU of $1000 or so. That certainly can't hurt. I seem to recall that my $550 semester bill at UConn in the late '60's (tuition was free, believe it or not) included a $25 (?) "student activity fee" along with room and board.

UPDATE:

Dayton 12-2 (2-0 A-10)

Cal State Northridge 12-3 (3-0 Big West)

Princeton 13-1 (1-0 Ivy)

Cornell 11-3 (1-0 Ivy)

Drake 13-3 (4-1 MVC)

Indiana State 13-3 (4-1 MVC)

Western Carolina 14-2 (3-0 SoCon)

Samford 13-2 (2-0 SoCon)

McNeese 13-2 (2-0 Southland)

James Madison 14-1 (2-1 Sun Belt)

Grand Canyon 14-1 (4-0 WAC)

You left out Cincy, they are a half-decent mid-major
And Providence. I mean they have as good chance as anyone.
