Does anyone know if he was officially a red-shirt this year (due to injury)?

Once you take a non-medical redshirt, you can't take a medical. You only get the sixth year if you are injured twice. I think last year was a non-medical, but if he had an injury which kept him out, then he can appeal for the sixth year and probably get it.
