Miami - Villanova Friday @ 2:30 on ESPN

Nova is getting hammered. 54 - 37 Canes with 6:02 left in the 3rd.

Nova has no offense flow and can't play defense.

Wow. This makes me appreciate how difficult Villanova was to beat. They came back from 21 down to take the lead before ultimately falling to Miami. I think it was a mistake for Villanova to stop the press right after they took the lead (given that’s how they got the lead in the first place), but big credit to Miami for making their free throws down the stretch and for getting to the elite 8 as a 9 seed.

Not surprised to see this, Miami has much more size and athleticism than Villanova. They really did anything they wanted in the first 21 minutes, but to their credit, Villanova came roaring back.

Tough day for Siegrist. She had 31 points but she shot 8/29 from the floor. Villanova benefitted greatly when Miami was in the bonus for something like 7 minutes of the third quarter, and was pressing incredibly well.

It was an interesting matchup. You could see how the sheer athleticism for Miami dominated the first half. And then how the patience and smart play dominated for Villanova. In the end, Miami making enough plays to advance.

Seem to be no fouls being called on Villanova since the half
Refs definitely gave them every chance to get back in it. I think Miami had 8 or 9 fouls in the 3rd and Nova had none.

Now we see what Maddy does, 5th year, Grad Transfer or WNBA (where she's any where from like the 5th pick to 3rd round IMO, who knows)

You're leaving out the part where two of Miami's best players were on the bench during that run with foul trouble. When they returned the game changed.

Agreed, Rooster, and the reality that many basketball teams which make huge comebacks run out of gas/adrenaline once they've caught up.

Maddy missed the last seven shots of her career, several of the variety that typically have been nearly automatic makes. Too bad for Maddy and 'Nova and, by extension, the Big East.
