Shapiro is a bad dude and it's pretty well documented that he told Miami's compliance folks to go stuff it and was allowed to do whatever he wanted with DIRECT access to the kids. If that's not a lack of institutional control I have no idea what is.

NCAA is a total crock, so who knows.

Does anyone want to bet that it will be much like the UNC ruling?

It will not even be a slap on the wrist.

It will make the ball-tickling that the NCAA gave to Oregon look like a beheading.

Michael Irvin and Warren Sapp have to stop their "U know it" segment on NFL Network's Gameday show for two weeks. Ouch. Those Miami wrists are gonna be sore.

Miami is only going to lose three scholarships for three years. This is a joke.

No bowl ban...losing 9 scholarships over 3 years...and yet the NCAA says they don't have a double standard...what a joke!

Not really understanding why this effects UConn.....explain.

Because programs like Miami and UNC and Auburn don't get penalized. ESPN and the other networks want them on TV, so the NCAA makes an example out of the expendables like UConn Basketball and punishes them. Anyone out there who believes UConn Men's Hoops program was treated fairly - loss of scholarships for academics (at the same time they where being penalized for the Nate Miles phone calls), loss of NCAA tournament, loss of Big East tournament, and other sanctions. IMO the NCAA was trying to destroy the UConn program. Too bad they don't feel this way about Miami football.

It was more of Mark Emmert settling old scores against Jim Calhoun from his time as Provost at UCONN.

I guess the boatz n' hoez can continue at the U, thank goodness. Seriously though, it really is interesting to watch the corruption at the NCAA unfold with every slap-on-the-wrist rulings they dish out and when they pick and choose moments to make a statement. UCONN MBB was the APR standards statement yet UNC conducts fake classes with fake teachers for fake transcripts for their "student" athletes and get nothing.

why should there be a bowl ban when they've already self imposed missing 2 years?

...because they went 6-6 and 7-5 - if a tree falls in the forest...
