Mets 2020 thread

A Rosario walkoff double header sweep of the Yankees....and Steve Cohen buying the team.

Is this the greatest night in a decade?

Decade? I’d possibly go so far as to say maybe the 3rd best night in history for fans. Haha.

That truly was one of the best nights in Mets history, Uncle Stevie bring us home!

.-.
I was kinda hoping to see J-Lo at the games.

I'm a Yankees fan. Not going to lie, when I saw LeMahieu come up with the based loaded and they called up Familia from the pen, I'm like this game is in the bag. Let's see if I'm right.

I'm edit: I'm shocked DJ didn't get a hit or draw a walk.

a.k.a. "the Trifecta"

My childhood hero. I wanted to pitch and followed Seaver's philosophy on building up the thighs and legs. I was a crappy pitcher, but I still have big thighs.

The film where Shamsky, Swoboda and Harrelson all visited Tom at his winery was at once a celebration of a great life while also sad knowing that he was fighting a battle he could not win.

Was well before my time, but there's no doubt he's the best Met ever. The first Mets I remember are the 2000 WS team who lost to the Yankees

Ugh. I was at Game 5. Brutal.

I should have become a Yankee fan like my dad, but 7 year old me loved Derek Bell and his mustache after I got this card

I'm really really really glad for Dominic Smith, finally got his chance and has proved everyone right. Edwin Diaz actually has fabulous numbers this year. Jake may 3-peat for Cy Young....

So, that being said - the best part is that Uncle Stevie Cohen will be in charge soon.

No doubt in my mind he'll sign Realmuto.

Absolutely. Agree with everything you said. I’m still afraid to say it but I am starting to get a little confidence in Diaz.

His strikeout rate has been remarkable, but..... He's always one bad pitch away.

So, I never fully got behind this 60 game "season". Without the fans, it never seemed like they are real games that mean anything. The playoff structure is stupid.

That said....can we just get Uncle Stevie on board to start spending money, build up this offseason and play for real next spring?!

It's even more stupid that this playoff structure is going to be a permanent change

In 1985, the Mets had 98 wins. 2nd best in the NL but they finished 2nd in the NL East behind the Cardinals with 101 wins. In the NL, the Dodgers had 95 wins to win the West.

Now? The Mets are 21-27, in 4th place in their division and still have a mathematical 15% chance at the postseason. That's ridiculous. That said, would you want to be someone that faced deGrom in a one game playoff? Even more ridiculous that could/should end your season.

I just read how this guy paid Guy Fieri $100K to take him to Super Duper Weenie. Seems apropos.

Pretty sure that's what Bob Kraft paid for Super Duper Weenie as well.

I think this is pretty much the end of Matz.. He's essentially lost his spot going into next year. It appears that Peterson can be a #3 or #4, with Thor coming back we just need to fill the back end. Porcello and Wacha have been an unmitigated disaster.. Gotta look at what the free agency class looks like for SPs...

Lefties will always have a job. He'll be that 5th/6th inning guy, maybe situational, maybe you can stretch him out if a starter gets shelled in the first couple innings. He's just not consistent enough to be a rotation guy anymore.

Questions I'll stick here...

The player put on 2nd base in extra innings. Is he an earned run if he scores? And is he an "inherited runner?"
