On ESPN tonight. This will be my first time rooting for Memphis because they are in UConn's conference and their win will help us...feels weird!

We know this better than most.

That said, a game like this could be the difference between a 3 or 4 seed or 1/2, etc. that can play a big factor in how you do in March.

It's a pretty huge game for Memphis. It's also the first big game for the AAC, so don't be an embarrassment. I have fairly high expectations for Memphis this year.

The thing is, I liked hating Pitt, Excuse, GTown. I don't think I will ever feel that way about Memphis, with the exception of those view seconds during a telecast where I am forced to watch some replay from 2007 with the squid sliming up the court.

Meh, you or really any other UConn fans probably didn't start hating Pitt until 2003-2004, its not like that was a longstanding rivalry on the level of GTown or Cuse with all the 90s battles. I would rather not be in the AAC for a long time but if UConn/Memp has classic matchups over the years your feelings will change over time.

I'm not so sure they will. The thing about Pitt, GTown, Cuse was that in every job I have had (always Northeast) I have bumped into someone with a tie to those universities and it made the wins better, the loses harder, when you knew it was going to be a topic the next day at work. That will never be the case with Memphis, at least as long as I live up here.

7 versus 11 isn't a huge difference. Home court is usually 3-3.5 points, I believe. 5 point dog on a neutral court isn't huge but it's not small.

Will be a guard showdown. Phil Forte is killing it from 3 Pt range. He's been Giffey-like from 3. Need to guard Stevie Clarke & Markel Brown too... Then you still have Smart & Nash, the stars... I think Memphis guards will have their hands full, even though they are pretty good themselves. Could be a fun game to watch.
