Memphis in trouble - Anyone surprised?

This isn't really a big deal to me any more, honestly. They're employees, basically.

What's confusing is why this needed to happen. The players already get tutors at their beck and call. And frankly... plenty of the basketball players in Storrs and elsewhere just don't do any work anyways.

Given the current market / NIL pay levels, those softball players were grossly underpaid at $550. They probably doubled back for more money. $550 to help a 6-7 figure player is hustling backwards.

The NCAA is a joke - and a bad one at that

Let’s be understanding as student athletes do need support at such an elite institution of higher learning like Memphis.

So if UConn offered the Big 12 $200 million would they take us?

Memphis made a bold effort to join the Big 12 -- offering in excess of $200 million -- but the conference is not interested in adding the Tigers as a member, sources told CBS Sports' Brandon Marcello and Matt Norlander.

The school would have secured between $200 million and $250 million in various sponsorship commitments as part of its bid to join the league, according to Marcello. Memphis submitted its final proposal in early July, but internal discussions were brief and the Big 12 board showed no interest in adding Memphis to the conference at this time, per Norlander.

How did they find two athletes on campus smart enough to do the homework?
Softball players.

That means women.

It is much more likely that you would find 2 softball players who actually understand the academic material than 2 baseball players.

And this kind of subtracts the whole "sit in for him and take the test" argument.

Well, maybe not the WHOLE argument (IYKWIM -AITYD).
