Capt Douglas D. Ferguson listed as KIA while flying a F-4D aircraft after being shot down over Laos on Dec 30, 1969. Capt. Ferguson's remains were finally accounted for on February 14, 2014 and were returned to his home city of Tacoma, WA on May 1, 2014. Capt. Ferguson was a classmate of mine at USAF Academy (class of 1967).

I suppose almost all of the Yarders have lost military members of their extended families.....and many have lost from their immediate families. As we speak, one of our family heroes from WWII, Capt. John Masteller, a waist gunner/radioman etc, who flew many missions into Germany in the Martin "Flying Coffins", is very near death in a nursing home. A handsome, brave, mild and very decent man, John now weighs 90 pounds and can no longer lift the phone. To him and his comrades and to you and your family's sacrifices for our nation, Barbara and I send our heartfelt appreciation, prayers, and remembrance. A tip o' the cap .....and stay well.
