"The rough couldn't have been THAT bad. I could still see your knees."

Too bad the rules for this game don't include coaches because if it did the ultimate quote would be:

"We have Diana, and you don't."

Most of us know the circumstances, the author of the quote and who it references from back in 2004.

“THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT!!!! THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT!!!!”

I’ll never forget hearing those words.

The answers to my quotes at #32 above:
1. Don Mattingly to Derek Jeter Spring Training Tampa, 1995
2. Fred Astaire when asked how he makes dancing look so effortlessly!
3. Joe DiMaggio
4. Joe DiMaggio
5. Mickey Mantle
6. Rebecca Lobo HofF speech to Geno Auriemma
7. Reggie Jackson
8. Sparky Lyle
9. Yogi Berra
10. Casey Stengel

What’s the answer to the one I posted above you? I mean who screamed it on the air?

CONN78SEJ- - My first guess would be Gary Thorne, after Aaron Boone hit the HR off the late Tim Wakefield, to go to the 2003 WS!

OR Bill White at Boston 1978 extra game when Bucky "F--g" Dent hit that HR!

Good guesses but it was the Scooter Phil Rizzuto when Chris Chambliss hit his walk off HR against the Royals in game 5 of the 1976 playoff, winning the first Yankee pennant since 1964. Still remember him screaming it………”THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT….THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT….THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT”

"The only thing you know about pitching is how hard it is to hit."

‘Don’t dig in against Bob Gibson, he’ll knock you down. He’d knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don’t stare at him, don’t smile at him, don’t talk to him. He doesn’t like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don’t run too slow, don’t run too fast. If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don’t charge the mound, because he’s a Gold Glove boxer.’ I’m like, ‘Damn, what about my 17-game hitting streak?’ That was the night it ended.”
- who gave the advice?
- to whom was he speaking?

On end zone dancing: "Act like you've done it before and act like you plan on doing it again" - John Riggins, who was "asked" to leave the White House because he was, well, inebriated... (that alone cements the Diesel in my hall of fame book.)
“Come on, loosen up, Sandy baby, you’re too tight.” John Riggins to US Supreme Court Justice Sandra day O'Connor at a Washington Press Club dinner. Riggins had been a bit overserved.

LesMis89: The first line was Gibson to his own catcher Tim McCarvere...I think.

The rest? Maybe McCarver to somebody after he was traded from the Cardinals?

Yes on #1

#2 was Hank Aaron to a young Dusty Baker

Absolutely the best back and forth between player, and sportswriter who doesn't have a clue. I'm forever amazed at the pathetic questions posed by sports writers. And equally amazed at how patient the athletes are with these writers and their questions.

"The Giants is dead!" This was said by Charlie Dressen, manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, in 1951. He said this in the middle of August when the Dodgers had an 11 game lead over the rival Giants. When the season ended, the Giants and Dodgers ended up in a tie for first place.
The Giants won the playoff on Bobby Thomson's home run.

"They run a lot of sets, nothing that we haven't seen throughout the course of Big Ten play and postseason." Brad Underwood
before the Elite 8 Game with UConn. Believe me this will live on for a long time!

Who said this, and about whom?

"I could have walked over there and given the guy a ten dollar bill, because such foolishness has to come to an end sooner or later."

Hint: It involves probably the most unbreakable record in baseball history.
