She was either 24 or 26 in the rankings. Some players are underrated. I don't think she was.
i think she was #4 per Blue Star or Peach State or someone. i'm not sure where she will end up but we do have a long way to go.
Well, there was a long thread about it. Pretty disgusting if you ask me.
No one is calling her names, we are just talking about her game.
Maybe you should read The Summit more so you can speak more informed about what gets posted there, like the thread about Dolson and the many threads about Geno, making fun of his heritage.
you forgot the threads where they call UCONN "U-Cheat" and refer to Geno as a cheater and low class individual.
anyway i re-read the entire thread and the worst i could find is that a few posters said she lacks discipline, she's not improving, she's more of a role player, she lacks coachability, her shot selection is really bad, and she's not a good defender. how is that attacking a player's character? and not every post in the thread is "trashing her". there are a good number of posts that talk about the positive attributes of her.
She brings a competitive fire and when she's hitting her shots can be an asset. She can get shots off anywhere at any time. She is a talented one on one player who loves to shoot the ball. She is lightning quick.
as doggy pointed out, "Last year she had 104 assists and 104 TO's. This year she has 27 assists and 35 TO's. Her passing is NOT better." look at her numbers - last year she averaged...
11.8 shots/game in 26.3 minutes/game shooting 41.8% overall with 33.7% from 3-point at 13.5 PPG. and in 2012...
10.9 shots/game in 26.5 minutes/game shooting 33.5% overall and 30.7% from 3-point at 10.9 PPG
i don't think even the most homeristic fan can say that her numbers are better this year. it's not to criticize her character or her person, but the numbers are what they are.
one last thing i'd like to point out is fans who are as passionate as UCONN fans are (i can't speak for tennessee fans) do that all the time. in the past we talked about why Lorin Dixon couldn't score more. Why Charde Houston never seemed to "get it". How Heather Buck has been struggling between her ears with confidence.
and we've talked about MANY of our bench/reserve players (Ashley Valley, Stacey Marron, Tahira Williams, Cassie Kerns, Meghan Gardler, Jacquie Fernandez, Heather Buck, Michala Johnson and Lauren Engeln) over the years and dissected whether or not we thought they'd ever be part of the regular rotation, or whether they were forever resigned to be end of game bench players.
talking about their strengths, weaknesses, mental approach, intensity, etc etc. was never about if they were good kids or had good character. it was about how they fit into the rotation (if at all), what they could contribute, and we even speculated what their expectations were in coming to UCONN, and if they envisioned only playing mop up minutes most games.
