In the thread for Cox going to Baylor, a few people said that Notre Dame is the front runner for Walker. Is there any truth to that?

I thought that we were near or at the top of her list. Anyone have any info at her top schools?

I checked the list as well, but I know she had a home visit from Notre Dame, so wasn't sure how updated the information on Hoopgurlz was for her

I have heard zero recently, but she is a must get for UCONN (if we want to maintain our superiority over other teams). I realize that you can't have the #1 kid every year, but if you look back at the teams who have won, they generally have 2 top players (Diana and Sue/Swin/Tamika/Ashja, or Tina/Maya, or Stewie/Moriah/Kaleena). This year we still have Stewie/Moriah and we add KLS. But next year, losing Stewie and Moriah - I'd put us at about #3 on paper. But plenty of time for the team to develop and we will know better how good the 4 newbies will be come Februray or so (assuming Butler is able to play this year)...

2016 we have KLS, Napheesa and Crystal are top players (plus De'Janae I also considered as top player). But, the more the better ......

Yes, ND visited her on the first day of home visits.

She retweeted a tweet of Niele Ivey's that said (without disclosing who she visited, of course) what a great visit she had that day. Then she posted a pic of her and Niele.

Seems like there is mutual interest but I don't know any more than that.

I think if Megan is looking at position depth and overall team "fit" for her talents, there's a lot to be excited about UCONN for her because the complimentary pieces are all there: an outstanding true PG in Danger, rangey wing/forwards like Collier and Boykin, a very special inside-outside 3-pt specialist and all around scorer in KLS to stretch the D, a true post (from all indications) in Butler to anchor the middle ---- this is a perfect setup for an elite, game-changing 2/3 like Megan who is sooooo dangerous and EXPLOSIVE with the ball. Obviously Kia Nurse will be in the mix for awhile yet (loving that!) but as far as the future is concerned, I think the pieces above set up *very, very well* for Megan Walker.

I, too, would really like to get another "great" kid for next year, but that seems less than likely at this point. While I'm confident Morgan and Kia will continue to play at the highest level, and that Lou and Napheesa will reach those heights pretty soon, I think one really critical element must be considered to allay your concerns somewhat:

Geno said UConn would win because "We have Diana, and you don't."
I say we will continue to win because "We have Geno, and you don't."

4 years ago MoJeff and Stewie were freshman. We won 3 NCs to date. Next season they wont be here. We are still a team with a nucleus next season. We still have 2 number 1 HS players and Dangerfield number 2 just like Mojeff was. We will continue to dominate WCBB. Maybe not at the level we are at this season but we are a cohesive team and that in itself will be tuff not to lose a game. Don't forget we have been blowing almost every team out by 20+. Maybe next season its a little closer by I still like our chances of winning every game by double digits much like we have been doing the past few seasons. Stop worrying and enjoy what we have because we have a lot more then any other team but most of all we have Geno.

Well yeah, but... We are slightly spoiled and with Geno we're likely to be in the running just about every year. But I recall vaguely some years where other teams won. As Geno himself says, you need the talent one down recruiting year can give the other folks a chance.

Anyway, looks like Geno should've scrapped the pasta and held a Texas barbecue for Lauren.

Your reasoning is absolutely inarguable. But I had the same thoughts relative to Cox- she could not possibly have had better complementary 'pieces' than Lou, Napheesa, Kia, Crystal, Gabby and Natalie. And then she goes and chooses to play in Wacko. You sometimes just have to throw well-reasoned basketball logic right out the window.

Walker to Notre Dame is really not a secret in the AAU world anymore. The only home visit that Walker and her family put on social media was ND. I'm also being told that ND told 2 other highly ranked wings that they weren't recruiting them anymore because of a promise that Walker would be there.

Thanks for the updated information. Which wings are no longer being recruited by ND?

Tony, I tend to be a doom and gloom guy so I always appreciate your confident and bullish quotes. They help me sleep at night. Thanks.

If true, this is far more depressing (to me) than the loss of Cox to Baylor.

UConn will still be good but the key thing will be the other school have caught up to them. South Carolina, Baylor and Notre Dame will be eqaul to UConn in talent. Maryland, Duke and Louisville will have incredibly deep teams in 2016-17 and beyond. If Tennessee solves their health issues, they'll be in the mix as well. WCBB will be a lot more balanced after this season.

As recently as last month some LV fans were saying UConn leads for Walker. Of course, these are the same fans who insisted ND led for Cox.

No program of any note would tell kids that.

I thought the same. There is no way that ND told other wings to take a hike based on someone saying that they were going to verbal.

You and Geno are right--Great coaches (according to Geno) recruit great players, who make the coaches look great. Yet if we look at what we have, who is still available and forget the speculation of where suzzie is going or not--it's almost sinful for the prospects of Uconn in the next coming years.
