Media conspiracy

Now excuse me, I have to go through 20 Boneyard threads talking about how dominant of a program UConn is.
You don't really have to. An excellent alternative would be to leave here now and never post again.

That's not an interesting story at all. At least not nationally. Like I said, the "underdog" attention is going to go to Kentucky and Dayton. Billy Donovan, Tom Izzo, and Sean Miller are all nationally known coaches, and in college basketball, no one cares about players, so the coaches are the stars.

FWIW, Wisconsin fans are also complaining about their media attention. You know why? Because no one cares about them too. They're boring and anonymous. I've been to Madison, Wisconsin three times in the past year, and I can't name a single player for Wisconsin right now. Kaminsky maybe? Too bored to even look it up.

Yeah you're brilliant dopey……Kentucky and Dayton in the same sentence. Were you just born Casper? Kentucky has 9 McD AA's a year and they're a Cinderella Story? You talk about "butthurt" like you just got out of jail….now go back there!

I do think the media (and obviously ESPN leads the packs while the rest follow) selects early in November a crop of teams they are gonna hype all the way till March. They only switch it up if they find the need to do so (i.e they jumped off Cuse mid-season). Unfortunately, Connecticut hasn't been one of those teams for the past two runs (in 2011 and the present). Its alright though. As long as we keep winning, potential recruits are watching and they don't care whether a team is hyped or not. All they care is about who wins, and Connecticut finds a way to win

I always laugh when after each round of the tourney they post the odds to win it and we are always at or near the bottom. Personally, I like it that way and hope the team can get some added motivation from it. Welcome to UCONN, NYC Campus, Michigan State.

The Huffington Post? I'll wager heavily that all contributing writers and 95% of their readership believes in participation trophies for any and all sports at every level.

said the man posting on an opponent's message board on a saturday night
You're not "an opponent". I came here because I hate Iowa State and I was rooting for you. I stayed here because the level of discourse here is so incredibly absurd, I can't stop watching. This is like the Honey Boo-Boo of message boards; Cheap, trashy entertainment I can't turn away from.

It also doesn't help that I'm a bit tipsy from some cachaça a buddy brought me from Brazil. And no, UConn fans, Brazil is not in Mexico.

quite the life you have then. getting tipsy then going onto a message board that you have no affiliation to.

A dude from Iowa is bashing a bunch of people from Connecticut, New York and Mass for being uneducated? Now that's rich.

Whoever said this guy lacks self-awareness is right. He apparently has no clue what the general perception of Iowans happens to be.

Go easy on him. He thinks there are 9 teams in the Elite 8. At least, that's what he learned at his "real college."

It's not a conspiracy as much as it is a tell of how we're viewed by the media contingency. Despite all of our success on the court over the past 15 years, we are still seen as blue collar, not blue blood. A lot of writers are clinging to the past and still haven't gotten a handle on what is clearly a changing landscape in college hoops. I thought our '11 title would help to change that thinking, but instead it was ignored. We are still considered outsiders in conversations about national powers and, oddly, I'm okay with that. Keep sleeping on us and we'll keep waking you up with the pillow.

I loved the Sports Reporters this morning analyzing the Florida/ Michigan St. Game...until Lupica remained them to not overlook uconn...like it was just a formality, a foregone conclusion. Unbelievable! Screw 'em....let's win the whole damn thing!

Well, Mitch Albom was driving the conversation so you would have to expect homerism. After all, according to Mitch, Michigan State is "The story of this tournament". When you look at this tournament, his statement comes off as one of the more ridiculous in history.

The thing is once the field was announced all of ESPN's talking heads anointed MSU as the champions. Of course the outcome is a foregone conclusion.

Let them sleep on us all they want, it only makes us stronger.

Just heard this as well. I know nothing of Albom, but his hair was the story of this show for me. Not really sure what's going on there.

Keep covering those Dumbo ears Mitch with those '60's haircuts………..he's never been much to listen to unless of course you are him!

I'm sure that the University of Iowa is a fine school. especially if you want to learn about chinch bugs,.. manganese,.. but really, I imagine that the average person in Lisbon, Madrid or Toledo (the Iowa cities/towns) couldn't find the cities their original namsakes (and I'm not referring to Toledo Ohio) on a globe if the Iberian peninsula was circled. They also would think Foz do Iguaçu is some exotic rash.

Legit question: why are you here? You have posted nothing of substance other than insults and backhanded compliments. It's not clever. Not witty. Your online persona has no redeeming qualities.

It's dat huge internet d ick. It's so hugeeeeee.

You know, it doesn't take much time to figure this all out.

What college has a huge sports journalism program?

Also, because of said sports journalism program probably has a lot of highly placed individuals in the sports media industry.

It's west of us and the colors are orange....

They also have a nose picking coach who wins in all months except March and April.
