Mechelle Voepel: EDD not leaving early

I am not surprised. I think she likes her teammates and her current situation. Plus she gets to be with Lizzie.

Elena will approach Jackie Stiles's career point totals.

Yeah, I dont think EDD, Diggins or Griner will leave early.

College is a great experience that all players should experience.

EDD does not need the money.

Not surprising; she didn't have the courage to play class A college BB either.

Oh yeah, you can absolutely count on what says! Her word is as good as ... well maybe it isn't all that good.

For those who think EDD is their personal play toy or personal entertainment center - grow up.
EDD has made a choice doing something that she believes will last beyond the current microsecond. What are you doing that will last?

Last time I checked, there is more to life and greatness than bouncing a ball and throwing it through a hoop. I doubt most can name all the USA team that beat Russia - but we all know who Mother Theresa was. Who was/is greater?

No surprise. I still think that there is a good chance that EDD will not play in the WNBA.

she now gets 2 shots at UConn, this season and next season!

Well one, that is naming 12 people vs 1. Also I doubt most people know who Mother Theresa really is (her real name).

Silly boy, her first name is "Mother." Everyone knows that.

We all know who Hitler was, if it comes to that. Also not sure what Mother Teresa has to do with Elena Della Donne. Let's not get overdramatic here.

You are right, I appologize.

Some people have a different opinion than you do. While I admit that some people -- including me -- sometimes overdo it, it is our opinion, nonetheless. I'm not sure what your greatness rant has to do with it. And I think you are waaayyyy overreacting, but I guess you are entitled to your opinion too.

It's simply a fact that people disagree about EDD and their feelings about her character and what she did to UConn. When an opportunity for a good zinger opens up, we take it. When others have the opportunity to praise her or recognize her talent, they do. The only apology I would make is to the moderators who have to watch our silly bickering and decide when to stop it.

This hatred for EDD seems to be the equivalent of the hatred that the UT fans have of Geno. It is an issue that should have been let go a long time ago. But, I don't have a dog in the fight, so that is easy for me to say.

UCONN has had, and will have, so many top recruits that it is just interesting to imagine how one recruit can drive so much animosity.

what sad about the anti-EDD is... UConn is still a top team, its not like EDD "really hurt" them.

blah blah blah... yeah yeah yeah so and so would have signed blah blah blah wasted time etc.

UConn is still in the hunt.

but thats just shows the character of some... 50, 60, 70yr old people SMH

First, I don't believe anyone said they hated EDD -- so the "hatred" comment is simply wrong and an example of someone misrepresenting the statements of people they disagree with. I don't know why someone would do that. Is it to make the other position seem more unreasonable? If the position is so off-base, does it need to be exaggerated? I don't really understand.

Second, to disparage the character of fellow fans simply because they disagree with you is very disturbing and an unwarranted personal attack. People who are down on EDD comment on her and what they believe she did to affect the performance and reputation of her team and the potential championships she may have denied her teammates who stayed with the program. I don't remember seeing them insult fellow posters for disagreeing with them and continuing to voice that disagreement over time. Also, are you saying that if UConn was not "still in the hunt," then it would be okay to hold a grudge against EDD? If not, then what is the reasoning behind that comment?

Right now I am resisting the urge to use language you would expect those of us with flawed character to use when we are insulted or attacked. You see, we hold back from time to time just to keep the enlightened ones off balance in their dealings with the unwashed.

I'm cranky tonight, so I'm going to say it - yes, there have been some things said about EDD that are just plain nasty.

How can almost anyone on this board judge her character, and to read one of the posts above its all about what she "did to UConn". She didn't do anything to UConn, she did something that had consequences for UConn. I'm pretty sure she didn't commit and then leave just to screw UConn.

She made a series of decisions of what she thought was right for her. That is what most of us do everyday. Sometimes they work out for us, sometimes they don't - lots of divorces out there, for example. The evidence tends to indicate this decision has been right for her - isn't that the most important thing?

Well said, Knight, as always. I hope many blessings are coming your way in your move.
