THX. I would tend to believe the amount of negative pub the fans in Maryland have provided would give pause to UVA and others except FSU.

Bedsides, I want people that want to be in the B1G. Not people that will always be looking for negatives with it.

Also, Maryland isn't "Southern" like other rumored candidates.

I will keep the light on for UCONN.

To have a Minnesota/Iowa alum want us in their conference is the best compliment we can get. Please do spread the word about us. You know we are good for the conference in just about every way.

.-.
IMHO

Rut= NJ
Rut + Fox + YES + B1G Alum does not guarantee NYC carriage
UCONN does not = NYC carriage just Conn

Rut + UCONN = NJ, Conn & NYC plus you make Syracuse irrelevant That sounds like a bonus to the Huskies and Knights

I have been to Saudi Arabia. How bad can Jersey be,

Ah you've opened a can of worms my friend. The state as a whole is a mildly functioning sewage depository.

When visiting the Rutgers area, I'd recommend 2 things: a firearm of some kind, and your fond memories of Saudi Arabia. You'll need both to survive

We do have a pull in NYC for basketball. Adding us to the B1G would probably make our football program explode in popularity. Making Syracuse irrelevant is a dream of many UConn fans.

The Newark area is a pit...if you want to make a weekend of it I suggest a day in Atlantic City (go to the Borgata...probably the nicest casino) and spend an afternoon in NYC.

We need some Hockey fodder along with Penn State anyway.

I would be happy to come to a game at the Rent also.

Come on in. The waters cold but if your B1G enough shrinkage isn't a problem.

..."This likely brings the Big Ten's total capital outlay to $72 to $82 million for reeling in the Terrapins, a sign as to how badly the Big Ten wanted all those Baltimore-Washington TV sets. The ACC has sued Maryland to collect a $52 million exit fee from the Terps. Maryland has countersued, claiming enforcement of an exit fee is a violation of antitrust law

While this seems like a sweetheart deal at face for the Terps, I think this represents a pretty sizable gamble on the part of the Big Ten's leadership. Delany is banking on the Big Ten's cable TV network, BTN, gaining carriage in two of the nation's top 10 media markets (Baltimore-Washington and New York). The goal is to raise the value of the conference's media rights in time for contract renegotiations in 2017."...

classic thing to say from someone who has probably never been to NJ...or if you have...only been in the Newark area.

It's as stupid, and incorrect as saying the entire state of Connecticut is a huge pit of like the City of Bridgeport and the surrounding sewage areas.

I agree - don't lump the rest of us in with the in Fairfield and Westport :).

You shouldn't get mad at Rutgers because they got something that you want. It gives off bad karma.

It's not that... we didn't like them way, way BEFORE they found the conference relignment winning lottery ticket in the dumpster.

Let's call a spade a spade - there is nothing attractive about New Brunswick or Middlesex County.

It's a lot of ugly built around a polluted river.

There are parts of New Jersey that are quite nice - that just ain't one of 'em.

Storrs is a freaking Ansel Adams photo by comparison.

Connecticut and New Jersey are very similar culturally, economically, both have lots of Irish, Italian, Hispanic communities, NJ is a bit bigger geographically and population wise, both have a surprising amount of agriculture. Both have casino industry. CT has the quaint New England hill towns and NJ has the shore. Both have nice areas and bad cities.

Two states. But only one of them is known as the "armpit of America".

You have not traveled enough. Detroit is the butt crack of America.

Fargo, ND isn't the edge, but you can see it from there. North Dakota is so flat you can watch your dog run away for two days.

the reason I go into Nebraska is so I can exit it at Colorado.

The bottom 30 miles of Iowa and the top 30 miles of Missouri is no different than the hills of KY/WV.

Just saying you should see the rest of the places.

Don't Forget Cleveland!

Other than UCONN everyone left is Confererate. Mizzu balances the conference so well. JMHO. I think UCONN is given the nod if Rutgers doesn't deliver it with Fox and YES help.

Missouri wasn't technically confederate, but wasn't a free state either. Had its own border war with Kansas. Missouri was a dubious add for the B1G. Three city markets. St. Louis split with Illinois. KC split with KU (and to a lesser extent K State and even Iowa) and Springfield, split with Arkansas (and Missouri State for hoops). It's a state torn between three conferences no matter how you slice it.

I still see the B1G being bold. The move south isn't working. Colorado is continguous, rapidly growing and dominated by CU. Colorado and UConn would solidify the B1G as the Big North. Still, there is a Pac 12 GOR that would need to be challenged.
