Not surprised at this..it has been building for a while. Funny thing..the guy he replaced is actually putting together a respectable program in Columbia ..he has them at 6-2 in 2nd place in SEC east...they have UGA, UF, Wofford and Clemson left..8-4 isn't out of the question.

I just don't get it. He went to a couple SEC title games....there is some friction, and he must not want to be there, because this was pretty sudden. Yes, they are not good this year, but the "cause" they are claiming is pretty minimal.

He's being fired for embarrassing the school and state. With "P5" money, we could have rid of Diaco more quickly.

Why even put big buyout clauses in these contracts? At the rate coaches are getting canned, it’s only hurting the schools. It’s not like some of these guys who are getting hired are huge names that would require a big buy out. You know what your getting yourself into when you get hired. Part of the risk is you suck for just one season and you get canned.

Surprised more schools haven’t scaled back the buyout clauses.

Can’t wait for TV money to dry up for many schools in the next 7 years or so and the coaching carousel slows down and teams get stuck with either bad hires or are, heaven forbid, forced to let a coach figure it out with their players.

Remember the good old days when coaches didn't get fired until after the season? Not so much anymore. Hell, back in the old days if a guy did get fired during the season (Charley Pell, Gerry Faust) they still let them coach out the rest of the season. Crazy how times have changed.
