Plus it’s tough to debate facts.I’m not going to debate with someone who lives in a fantasy world.

We went 15-19-2. We were shut out 7 times. It wasn’t just that other teams got better this year, we didn’t keep up. The buck stops somewhere and that’s usually in the head coaches office. You can’t keep trying to paint this season or the overall success of this program as anything but mediocre. It hurts me to say it, because I’ve spent a lot of time and money rooting for these guys. The sky has fallen. It was not fun watching them get shut out 6 times on home ice. It won’t be fun next year unless a miracle occurs. I hope for one, but they are pretty rare.Yes, the hockey team will be fine. The sky is not falling. There will be UConn Hockey East games at Tuscany and the XL next year. It should be another fun year.
No one here agrees with anything you say, but you say you have all the facts. That’s pretty delusional in my book.Plus it’s tough to debate facts.
But we agree on Matt Wood.We went 15-19-2. We were shut out 7 times. It wasn’t just that other teams got better this year, we didn’t keep up. So he sucks because he’s not Wayne Gretzky. Wood actually was starting to turn a corner late in the season, last game was close against BU in a game we had no business being in only reason why was because of Matt Wood. But we agree on Matt Wood.
Who said Matt Wood sucks? I just think a change of scenery will be best for his development. He really can shoot the puck. He needs to work on his skating a lot. I hope he does really well we ever he goes. I think the B1G teams play a style that is more suited to his game. I wish him nothing but the best.So he sucks because he’s not Wayne Gretzky. Not sure about that. He was not a fast skater. I first noticed it at CT ICE last year. QU skated circles around him. It didn’t get better this year. He is big and a good stick handler but he not fast or quick. He needs to play a particular role. I always thought a Phil Esposito type role. Set up in front of the net and take passes and collect rebounds. Obviously more complicated than that but you get what i mean.Linemates that were too fast for him??? Is this serious? Do you even watch hockey? There’s no such thing. He didn’t find chemistry with linemates, but it has zero to do with their speed being too great.
Bingo!! He was playing center so he needed to be able to play a 200 foot game. Unfortunately, his skating ability prevented him from being able to keep up with the play. Maybe he is like Tage Thompson when he was at UCoon and he hasn’t grown into his body yet. Only time will tell, but imo a change of scenery will be good for his development. He did his best at UConn and I wish him the best. Not sure about that. He was not a fast skater. I first noticed it at CT ICE last year. QU skated circles around him. It didn’t get better this year. Just my opinion but I wouldn't think so but I would like to think it would motivate him to do better.Does the success of women's program put more heat on Cavs?
We built an Atlantic Conference hockey rink. If we wanted to go head to head for National Championships with BU & BCU we needed to build a 6,000 seat arena. We belong in the Atlantic Hockey Conference as does Merrimack! We went 15-19-2. We were shut out 7 times. It wasn’t just that other teams got better this year, we didn’t keep up. What does this mean??More players were going to go if Wood didn’t leave.
That may be true but they lost a lot, regardless. It’s a complete rebuild. Richard and Muldowney and maybe a few upperclassmen who return. I tend to think of Brian Kelly while at Notre Dame…essentially a complete rebuild after the 16’ season, I believe…from assistants to recruiting to training etc etc etc. he found quite a bit of success afterwards (no titles, but 2 cfb playoff appearances and solid years). I hope the coaching stafff takes something from that and just rebuilds the program. The problem will be talent. They lost 2 really good players going to elite programs when they should be on the uconn roster. It can be done, but they need to win next year and I’m not sure how that’s gonna happen.More players were going to go if Wood didn’t leave.
More UConn players were going to enter the transfer portal if Wood did not leave the program. What does this mean??
Now that’s a frosty nugget!More UConn players were going to enter the transfer portal if Wood did not leave the program.
Well, I understand that, but what is the problem. Is Wood not well liked?More UConn players were going to enter the transfer portal if Wood did not leave the program.
D Toscano would surely be onboard with this solutionI agree. The on-campus arena was supposed to ascend our program and it has done the opposite. They've essentially capped our future success. No team with a 2,500k seat arena is gonna win a championship or vy for one for that matter. Good news is the University can still fix their terrible mistake. Give Toscano to the Women's program and go back to the XL. The XL renovation includes a legit partition system that can reduce capacity to just the lower bowl.

That is absurd, of course. What were we doing with the extra 4000 seats? I’ve been to a few of these big arenas when crowds have been sparse. We built an Atlantic Conference hockey rink. If we wanted to go head to head for National Championships with BU & BCU we needed to build a 6,000 seat arena. We belong in the Atlantic Hockey Conference as does Merrimack!
We've been saying its a problem now since it was built too small and designed by an architecture firm that doesn't do hockey arenas. At least we're acknowledging it's a problem.
Go to a BC or BU game when they’re not playing each other. The crowds are not > 3000. The B1G appears to draw more fans. That is absurd, of course. What were we doing with the extra 4000 seats? I’ve been to a few of these big arenas when crowds have been sparse.
Plus hockey is very much a niche sport in Connecticut. Hate to burst your bubble but Connecticut ain’t Boston or New Hampshire or Maine or Minnesota when it comes to hockey. It is a fine sized arena. I don’t love some things , like the student deck and the fact that it is cursed, but capacity isn’t one of them.
