Maryland zeroing in on Kevin Willard

Always knew he was not long for Seton Hall and feels like a reasonable fit for him. Seems almost certain SHU will quickly move to Holloway so this probably came at the perfect time if it was going to happen.

Willard getting out of a mid major league by any means necessary.

Add him to the long list of little east coaches who have left for power conferences.
Stop It Michael Jordan GIF

One source called the likelihood of Willard to Maryland “99 percent,” while another said an announcement could come Monday.

“When I get home I’ll talk to my agent and discuss things with my agent,” he said, adding, “I’ll be honest with you. If I’m not here next year, I’d love, if Shaheen Holloway is here, that would be the happiest thing to happen to me.”

Hard pass. He'd also have to sit out a year since he already transferred once and UConn needs PG help right away.
With Willard leaving you could apply for a waiver, yes?

He will get a waiver because Willard is leaving. Wouldn’t need to sit a year
We'll see how lenient the NCAA is now that they have a 1 time free transfer rule. Hard pass anyway.

Is there any chance they call Hurley?

Has his stock fallen that far that they’d call Holloway first?

I like Willard as a coach, but Willard to Maryland is the right move for Willard and Seton Hall. He has run out the string with the Pirates. The team I watched last night was checked out. A new coach would bring energy to the program. Willard could use a fresh start too.

Anyone notice Richmond looks kinda salty/whiny a lot? Maybe just me. Want 2 guards in portal badly, but have to be able to shoot & fit culture.

They should just hire Juan Dixon. He was a win away from the tournament. I would imagine he’s one of the if not the most respected basketball player from Maryland.
