Maryland lost to Texas, 64-61!
Holding MD to 61 points was impressive. Vic Shaefer teams are dangerous in the tournment

Yeah, Maryland almost took charge of this game several times, but missed easy shots that Texas converted into baskets. Don't give Schaefer a 2nd chance.
Maryland has won several blowouts this season. I guess it's not as easy to score when the game is close.

I'm never impressed with Maryland, whatever their gaudy statistics... they always play a weak schedule, and beat up on the lesser teams... They seem to always be good, but never great... usually overrated...

Yeah, Maryland started to get roo many fast breaks off Texas misses. So Vic slowed it down and made sure the Terps had to work for their points.

Also when you work for 30 seconds on defense every time down court it tires you out mentally and physically.

I say this as both a Texas and a Vic fan, but I was really looking forward to a SC-MD matchup and am somewhat disappointed that it won't happen.

Well, we're back in the Elite 8 for the first time since 2016. Have to keep up that consistency in subsequent years to be "back" as a program.

Vic Shaefer is a top notch coach and builds teams that can have success in the tournament. He learned a lot from the blowout game against UCONN, and seems to have come up with successful tactics for dealing with high scoring, fast paced teams. Slow them down, don't give them any transition baskets and make it a half-court game and make them play 30 seconds of defense on every possession. It gives your team every chance to win.
