I see that he was the OL/TE coach at Miami as well (we all know Rutgers)

Hire him. Make him either the OC one of the specialties he has coached in the past and then groom him for coach-in-waiting

I would jump at this guy.

Obviously things did not work out (after what was a terrific first few years) at FIU but this is a high character guy (an anomoly for a grad of Tha U) who is still young and should have some exception recruiting contacts in southern Florida.

If he's willing to come here, coach our OL, deal with GDL believing he knows more football than anyone else in the world, knowing that the only promise is that he may get some consideration as P's successor if (an enormous if) things fall into place correctly, he would be an improvement over who we had coaching our line this past season.

I guess FIU has the right to think they can do better, and maybe they can get someone like Butch Davis to restart his career there, but they just had a good coach and got rid of him. Just a stupid move in my opinion.

But...UCF and USF are going to be in the same conference as of next year (I think, I don't remember the timeline these days).

Of course that conference won't be a BCS league but that's neither here nor there.
