The purpose of the NCAA tournament is definitively not to have the 68 best teams. And totally disagree, having a low major take a high seed to the wire or win is way more interesting than watching some mediocre P5 team play, even if it happens very infrequently.
StM is one of the biggest farces in college hoops. A bunch of slow unathletic goons that glacial pace you into boring basketball. Somehow the computers appreciate it but eyeballs definitely don’t.
I actually think Zags winning probably better for us. St Mary's may drop below us, and even if not, with a couple wins we can pass them, and along the way would probably pass Zags as well.

Their best overall win is probably Gonzaga twice but yeah their OC is brutal. They shouldn't be seeded above us.
This is their last game and they're either a) behind us already or b) way ahead of us, depending on how the committee is going to treat their predictive metrics. I don't think this win is enough for them to surpass us if the committee is dismissing their predictives and focusing on their resume, and we're only moving up if we get a couple wins (and so would then re-pass them). If the committee is taking their predictives at face value in order to avoid putting them up against a high seed, we're not catching them either way.
They are offensively challenged to put it kindly.
So is Seton Hall and the Huskies some how lost to them.
I'm old enough to remember when its purpose was to see who would have the privilege of losing to UCLA.
Also, metrics are not perfect. Gonzaga in the top 10. CCSU having a better defense than us. Whatever you think of our defense, it’s better than what I just watched.
They have a well balanced roster, a prototype for every common role (PG, athletic 3, shooting 2, low post big, stretch bigs) it’s just that none of them are really plus, other than Nembhard. Do like the kid Huff, not the most imposing big but plays hard and you can tell he hates to lose. If he hit the weight room could interesting.
Way to bring up the worst memory of the season during championship week Debbie downer. Just kidding. Any given day you could lose to almost anyone if you play lousy. Last years UConn juggernaut lost at SH also. Think the point was that even though the ACC is down, hard to believe VaTech won 8 ACC games over the course of a whole season with such a bad offense. SH didn't win 8 BE games despite the BE being bad this year.
