Nobody ever said the purpose of the tourney was to have the best 68 teams, not even the NCAA. If the NCAA wanted only the best teams, the tourney size would be cut in half, if not more.

There are 31 auto qualifiers. Let's say 23 are from one bid leagues. That's 23 more mediocre at best and usually worse teams wasting our time. And you'd never get a Steph Curry.

Why would you want to see another game from Pittsburgh at this point?

Their best overall win is probably Gonzaga twice but yeah their OC is brutal. They shouldn't be seeded above us.

This is their last game and they're either a) behind us already or b) way ahead of us, depending on how the committee is going to treat their predictive metrics. I don't think this win is enough for them to surpass us if the committee is dismissing their predictives and focusing on their resume, and we're only moving up if we get a couple wins (and so would then re-pass them). If the committee is taking their predictives at face value in order to avoid putting them up against a high seed, we're not catching them either way.
 
How did Virginia Tech win 8 ACC games. I know it's incredibly easy to find an indictment on the ACC this season, but sheesh.

I'm old enough to remember when its purpose was to see who would have the privilege of losing to UCLA.

Also, metrics are not perfect. Gonzaga in the top 10. CCSU having a better defense than us. Whatever you think of our defense, it’s better than what I just watched.
 
Gonzaga had a REALLY bad week in January, otherwise was 25-6 with the losses being West Virginia (bad), Kentucky, UConn, UCLA, St Mary’s twice (all fine). Most of which being pretty close losses and most of their wins being pretty big wins

I guess I can see why the computers think they’re better than they are. I don’t feel good about them in the tournament, but they’re WCC champs for now

They have a well balanced roster, a prototype for every common role (PG, athletic 3, shooting 2, low post big, stretch bigs) it’s just that none of them are really plus, other than Nembhard. Do like the kid Huff, not the most imposing big but plays hard and you can tell he hates to lose. If he hit the weight room could interesting.

STM has an assortment of large unathletic mules they can throw at you down low, which other than Saxson, are not very good. Their guard play looks reminiscent of 1961 basketball, little creation off the dribble.

Way to bring up the worst memory of the season during championship week Debbie downer. Just kidding. Any given day you could lose to almost anyone if you play lousy. Last years UConn juggernaut lost at SH also. Think the point was that even though the ACC is down, hard to believe VaTech won 8 ACC games over the course of a whole season with such a bad offense. SH didn't win 8 BE games despite the BE being bad this year.
 
Happy March Madness Wednesday!

Games are on today from 11:30 AM to 1:30 AM. I've made sure to schedule some parent phone calls during this afternoon's conference tournament games so I have a healthy distraction.

I thought it’s been pretty quiet around here…..but hey, he has the whole rest of that conference to root for in games that matter, so another successful season for @kobe!!!
 
Arkansas-South Carolina in 1 pt game with 3:15 left . Arkansas has not made a FG in 10.5 minutes of game time
