And Kansas goes limp...
How does Houston take 26 more shots than Kansas (foul shots about even)? Some serious offensive rebounding and turnovers. To beat Houston need some finishers and guys strong with the ball.

I have been thinking is a few weeks now but if we are on the 8/9 line it wouldn’t surprise me if the committee puts us in the same region as Duke.

Also, I knew I would like him, but I like Cooper Flagg way more than I am comfortable with.

My 6 year old, who is getting into ball and we rock hard with Liam and Castle, said today "does Duke play tonight? Will we win?" And for that I had to remove my jaw from the floor, gather my thoughts and remind him of what house he was in. Flagg fandom is fine, Duke fandom will be tough to handle.
Hey now don’t go soft he puts on that uniform he is no good. I don’t know when your Duke hate started but if you’re old enough to have seen grant hill in that uniform and dislike him then cooper Flagg is no different.

You gotta get that outta your son now. We aren’t on the Carolina level of dislike but a tier below.

Watched this game down the stretch - lord was Dickinson bad. He threw a ball away at mid court, down 3, where a Houston player had a breakaway dunk and just stared at him. He then allowed an easy offensive rebound put back, and a had an offensive foul. Hunter is one of those players that puts on the illusion of being a productive player because of offensive skill at his size, but is so stiff and immobile he’s a massive liability in many other ways. Kansas is hexxed with him on the roster, they’ll be better after he graduates.

that Dickinson turnover changed the momentum of the game IMO. It was like a pick-six as the announcer suggested. I believe he also fumbled the ball out of bounds down the stretch.

Houston does not have the explosiveness on offense when they had a series of really great pairs of guards, but they know how to hit the boards and make a bunch of midrange shots. They are a well-coached team all around. Nobody wants to play them in the NCAA tournament. I would love to see them kick Puke all the way back to Durham.

He was simply awful - looked exhausted. The throw away almost looked intentional it was so bad, and yeah it went from cutting the lead to 1 or 0, to a 5 point deficit with 3 minutes to play on the road. Huge swing.

Dajuan Harris is not a good basketball player. I made this assesssment earlier in year and had some defending him. I know that Kansas fans feel similar. He is as soft as it gets, put him under any physical duress and he backs down.

They will find extra shots through O rebounds and turnovers, like StJ, but as long as you play sound hoops you can neutralize them pretty easily. StJ is so much longer and athletic.

I think Duke would romp them. Houston is tiny and Duke is massive. Maybe Dukes lack of a PG could become problematic, but I see their size stifling Houston’s little guards.

I could actually see Houston getting knocked out early. They grind out a lot of wins against good teams. I don’t find them overly talented. Sampson is definitely getting the most out of this team. The B12 is really down this year as whole.

I understand your point but Houston would punk Duke

I found it funny that the announcer declared the B12 to be the best conference this year. Of course, he is not impartial so I take it with a grain of salt.

I would take this bet easy. Duke is a matchup nightmare and only getting better as a really young team. Duke has NBA roster size and Houston is a small college program. Houston has a couple of power forwards playing the 4 & 5, a 6'1" primary scorer as a 3 pt shooter. And I don't think it would be particularly close. Who on that team even guards Flagg? He's taller than both their bigs and would go right by them.

Maybe if the refs let Houston bully and let everything go, grabbing, holding, checking. Otherwise I don't see it as being particularly cose

I def feel that...but I must admit, Grant Hill might be the last Dookie that I liked. I never hated Grant, much the opposite actually.

Hunter Dickinson may be a nice kid (man), but from afar he is an absolute cancer to that program.
He pretty much sucks on D and I've never liked his demeanor on the court but he still gives you 17 points and 10 rebounds. He's basically their only offensive threat with a little Zeke Mayo thrown in. I'm not a fan of his but the rest of the team is a disaster, I don't see how that's his fault.

I agree with this. I saw a poll concerning the most hated Duke players. Number 1 and 2 were easy since they were Christian and Grayson Allen which I totally agree with. The others were JJ Redick, Shane Battier and Grant Hill. I never had any particular hatred for the last three and really admired Grant Hill.

I believe I saw that Kansas has an even lower getting to the FT rate than us, which is hard. Self wed himself too much to two company guys that are massively limited offensively in Harris & Adams, reducing two of the higher rated transfers in Griffen & Storr to bench/peripheral pieces. He also has a super athletic high upside athletic big in Budgina that he hasn't used effectively. You could argue at this point in the year their best 5 would be Dickinson, Budinga, Griffen, Storr & Mayo, but he keeps running Adams & Harris big minutes.

Harris & Adams are great examples of why holding on and over-committing to company guys is silly when it can actually hold you back. You look at Self this year with his loyalty decision making and how it's killing that teams chemistry, and it's Harris & Adams at the center of it. Storr may not be all he's cracked up to be, but to get his lowest performance in his college career this season is quite the feat for Self. It's not like he came out of Rio Grande, the kid played at StJ & Wisconsin.
