March other NCAA games

I could actually see Houston getting knocked out early. They grind out a lot of wins against good teams. I don’t find them overly talented. Sampson is definitely getting the most out of this team. The B12 is really down this year as whole.
I found it funny that the announcer declared the B12 to be the best conference this year. Of course, he is not impartial so I take it with a grain of salt.

I understand your point but Houston would punk Duke
I would take this bet easy. Duke is a matchup nightmare and only getting better as a really young team. Duke has NBA roster size and Houston is a small college program. Houston has a couple of power forwards playing the 4 & 5, a 6'1" primary scorer as a 3 pt shooter. And I don't think it would be particularly close. Who on that team even guards Flagg? He's taller than both their bigs and would go right by them.

Maybe if the refs let Houston bully and let everything go, grabbing, holding, checking. Otherwise I don't see it as being particularly cose

Hey now don’t go soft he puts on that uniform he is no good. I don’t know when your Duke hate started but if you’re old enough to have seen grant hill in that uniform and dislike him then cooper Flagg is no different.

You gotta get that outta your son now. We aren’t on the Carolina level of dislike but a tier below.

I def feel that...but I must admit, Grant Hill might be the last Dookie that I liked. I never hated Grant, much the opposite actually.

Hunter Dickinson may be a nice kid (man), but from afar he is an absolute cancer to that program.
He pretty much sucks on D and I've never liked his demeanor on the court but he still gives you 17 points and 10 rebounds. He's basically their only offensive threat with a little Zeke Mayo thrown in. I'm not a fan of his but the rest of the team is a disaster, I don't see how that's his fault.

I agree with this. I saw a poll concerning the most hated Duke players. Number 1 and 2 were easy since they were Christian and Grayson Allen which I totally agree with. The others were JJ Redick, Shane Battier and Grant Hill. I never had any particular hatred for the last three and really admired Grant Hill.

I believe I saw that Kansas has an even lower getting to the FT rate than us, which is hard. Self wed himself too much to two company guys that are massively limited offensively in Harris & Adams, reducing two of the higher rated transfers in Griffen & Storr to bench/peripheral pieces. He also has a super athletic high upside athletic big in Budgina that he hasn't used effectively. You could argue at this point in the year their best 5 would be Dickinson, Budinga, Griffen, Storr & Mayo, but he keeps running Adams & Harris big minutes.

Harris & Adams are great examples of why holding on and over-committing to company guys is silly when it can actually hold you back. You look at Self this year with his loyalty decision making and how it's killing that teams chemistry, and it's Harris & Adams at the center of it. Storr may not be all he's cracked up to be, but to get his lowest performance in his college career this season is quite the feat for Self. It's not like he came out of Rio Grande, the kid played at StJ & Wisconsin.

There's a reason neither program was particularly devastated to see him leave. It wasn't exactly a hot take last summer that Self was putting together an all-"looks good on paper" team but these games aren't won on a spreadsheet.

True, but he does things that this Kansas team cannot, and that's putting the ball on the floor and taking it to the basket, getting to the FT line. Any way you slice it what they're doing now isn't working, and Storr was a 16ppg scorer for Wisconsin last year. Griffen averaged 11.5 last year and now he's half that. Every one of these transfers have generally digressed under Self and yet he remains bullish on Adams/Harris. Something smells funny at that program right now. When things are folding I always think the best bet is to go with the biggest/fastest/strongest players and that is not Harris/Adams.

Kansas has the lowest ft rate in the country, or at least did last time I checked.

Harris and Adams are super limited and KU fans want them gone badly but Storr and Griffen have stunk for KU for whatever reasons.

KJ Adams is the biggest/fastest/strongest player though.

Not when you compare him to Floyd Budinga, who’s taller, longer and more explosive, and also landing in first round mocks. Adams has alligator arms.

Sure but Flory Bidunga is more center than anything. You were talking about how the transfers Storr and Griffen should be in the floor more over Harris and Adams and when your team is folding go with the biggest/fastest/strongest. KJ Adams is bigger/faster/stronger than the transfers.

I do agree Bidunga should be playing more but Self is almost always weird about playing freshmen.

Very - good not great team. A clear tier below.
They took so many treys last night. Killer on defense. But offensively, not a standout team.

Do you think KJ presents a skillset that is unique to Budinga? He can’t shoot.

I actually have a nice Grant Hill story. This was like 2001 or 2002. I was on vacation in Orlando with my family it was late and my dad and I went to get some food (Popeyes). So we are like the only people in there as we are walking out and who walks in but Grant Hill. He was a nice guy gave us an autograph talked with us while he was getting his food.

In the case of Grant Hill he was a good guy in a kind of bad place through little fault of his own. I mean he did choose to go Duke after all.

What I think happened was that Grant was happened to be there when Duke became Duke with their run of 4 final fours in 5 years. Laetner left and Hurley left and Hill was still there, he became the face of Duke basketball and went to a 3rd final four. Duke was doing lots of winning when and people either loved them or hated them good or bad players or people.

Seton Hall getting pulverized by Creighton. Seton Hall beat us.

.-.
Yeah watching this game makes me more irritated at the thought that UConn lost to Seton Hall -Seton Hall really sucks.
That loss will be the one that costs a seed line on tourney selection Sunday.

I could write a dissertation on this, but he gets his numbers and absolutely does nothing else. The offense flows terribly, he is the worst defender on the planet, and I'm not sure what his personality is but the day he got to KU the whole team seems to be disjointed.

I'm not there every day, but the dude has done nothing to help that team win. I'm not sure if you watch or just see his numbers but he's not good. I guess you can have the opinion he's not at fault, but I'd assume you've never watched a single second of them play if you truly think that. I happen to disagree, if you can't tell. He stinks, bad.

Auburn struggling vs. Texas AM’s press, their backcourt does not look good.

.-.
I'm just gonna put this here, even though cuse is actually beating smu at the half. must be some bad steak in dallas or something

Starting to think UNC is going to steal a bid, even though the ACC stinks outside of Duke and Clemson

I think in these out of conference threads the discussion revolves around:

1. acc
2. Big XII
3. sec

4. everyone else

point being, the big 10 is just that boring. an 18-program conference with 5 ranked teams, one of which is wiscy.

the current espn bracketology. for a conference with 11 projected dance partners, there is no discussion about the big 10.

12 sec
11 big ten
8 big 12
4 big east
4 mountain west
3 acc
2 wcc

for
