March Madness Day 1 Thread

Good God this Memphis game is ugly. Memphis pounding the air out of the ball for 25 seconds and then turning it over or chucking a shot at the rim. Seven minutes with a Memphis FG. Would not be surprised to see Boise State win this one.

I mean a loss is a loss is a loss. I subscribe to that. No participation trophies for losing by 3 or 164 at the end of the day.

But holy moly. I wanted to run onto court and be the Angel of mercy.
 
Expected that Memphis couldn’t be good Memphis for 40 minutes and it seems I was right. They will probably pull this out.

I looked at most of the heavy dogs. None of them looked great and I wanted to avoid trendy picks like SDSU and Vermont. Richmond played 3 big conference teams. Didn't win any, but didn't get destroyed. that was enough for me.

Boise looks like a plucky mid-major 12 seed. How did the Mountain West get 4 bids?

I mean, this second half is not particularly supportive of Penny being a good coach. He has a much more talented and athletic team and they look pretty awful.

Yeah if you look at this thread on page 2 or 3 I said the same thing about trendy upset picks. I feel like those trendy picks don’t materialize as they get so much publicity that the favorite hears about it and they get that chip on their shoulder.

Seems like we are a trendy upset pick. So hopefully we play with intensity.
 
Richmond played really good D in the A10 tournament and it continues here.

While watching Richmond/Iowa I was thinking back to our 99' win against Iowa. I thought they played super dirty. Their coach was retiring. They desperately wanted to make a run for him, but were outclassed against our 99 team. Played super dirty. At least i thought they did.... am I wrong?
