'That's the classic definition of the south. But I think most people associate anything north of D.C as culturally Northeast nowadays. Maryland and D.C have far more in common with the North today than with the South (see: Northeast Megalopolis as one such example)'
l have family cultural memories connected to the swamp going back to the days when the bearded and big hat guy, all world stretch four, was large and in charge.
all them places, silver springs, rockville, frederick, were an early 'we're movin to a new cornfield subdivision in some place called ...'
