March 18 games thread

At 33.4 time out to take out A'ja Wilson. This is her last game at the Gamecock gym.

Anything Ionescu tosses up is going in.

Minnesota can shoot the 3 ball, that's for sure. 39-31 6:30 left.

That was all ball yet Wilson (of course) gets the call.....
I always find myself wanting to give Aja a lot of credit but man she gets a lot of help from the refs every game I watch her.... And not just UConn games.

This is the last broadcast from the Oregon gym with those trees, I hope.

Ionescu w/ a step back 3 from DEEP right before the buzzer, also got fouled. 51-36 Oregon at halftime...pending a FT?

I don't think the trees are going anywhere. That's the trademark of Matthew Knight Arena.

Ionescu--22 pts. 8-11 shooting 7 assists 5 rebounds. At halftime. Sorry UConn fans, but I don't think anybody is playing better in the Tourney so far.

Any word on if Turner is going to come back?

As in Brianna Turner? If so, everything that she and Muffet McGraw has said points to her coming back in 2018-19 for her fourth year of eligibility. She and Shepard will both be seniors in terms of athletic eligibility.

It's too bad Ionescu's accomplishments will probably be overshadowed by Chennedy Carter's heroics this afternoon.

Yeah, 32 points after halftime and game winning 3 in the closing seconds is hard to top.

Still, if Ionescu opens the Tourney w/ back to back triple doubles, that would be noteworthy.

Oregon up 59-38, in danger of becoming a laugher.

I see the can of whup-ass has been opened..

Anyone else hoping for another Ionescu triple double?? Man i like watching this kid play and these Ducks.

Yes. Has a player ever done it in back to back games? Let alone Tourney games. She's gotta pick it up on the rebounding though. She had 4 in Q1 and only 1 since.

Unless she's gonna score 140 points all by herself, I think the UConn fans don't really care.

Minnesota is a great team to play when you want to pump up your stats. Not exactly a defensive-minded team.

Unfortunately Minnesota wasn't able to stay close enough, probably lots of bench minutes coming up in Q4.

Minny was competitive in the Big 10 weren't they?

If the regionals are going to be in Spokane, isn't it goodbye trees? The area floor looks like my kitchen floor.
LaChina and the PAC-12 announcer have begun the normal OT chatter since it's clear it's a blowout; hopefully the purists are already in bed.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, no more games there this season. I think the trees will still be on the floor in '18-'19, but you probably won't have to watch.

So, barring a disaster by Texas tomorrow, can we conclude South Carolina was clearly the weakest of the #2 seeds? Definitely the least impressive performance of the opening weekend games.

No triple double. Probably done for the night. Less production in 2nd half. 29 pts 9 assists 7 rebs.

Why do they insist on zooming in on the coach while the game is going on? We all know what the coaches look like. Show the game!

They may have gotten blown out today, but there's reason for optimism for Gopher fans. They graduate none of their significant players. Hubbard and Bell are sophomores, and Pitts is a freshman.* They took a big leap this year, and watch out for them next year.

* Corrected below. I was looking at ESPN's faulty resume. Wagner graduates. Bell is a junior, Hubbard a sophomore, Pitts a freshman.
