AAC is fine this year. But next year when Louisville exits and Tulsa, Tulane and ECU come in...different story. If UConn is in this league long-term, it needs Cincinnati, Memphis and Temple to consistently field good teams.
Forgot about SMU. You're right. There's certainly potential in this league, even if it's far from what we were used to in the Big East.Louisville leaving is going to hurt our league, no doubt. Tulsa, Tulane, and ECU are going to hurt our basketball RPI, no doubt. The bright(er) side is that this year is probably Temple's worst year in a decade or more. I expect them to get back up to where they were. You can count on UConn, Cincy, and Memphis to bring strong teams to the table, and I honestly feel like SMU and Houston (tonight's result aside) are going to be quality opponents going forward. They have strong recruiting classes and it looks like SMU will be in the tourney this year at current form.
This league isn't the old Big East by a long shot, but we should be able to consistently get 4-5 teams in the dance every year...
We could have 4 ranked teams next week!!! Hate to lose but these games help both squads win or lose. Looking forward to the return trip!
A nice sentiment, but it was really easy to tell this was not a UConn fan starting a thread with that title. We could have 4 ranked teams next week!!! Hate to lose but these games help both squads win or lose. Looking forward to the return trip!

I could even just maybe get into Tulsa eventually. They have some pretty good basketball history and have had a bunch of really good current coaches do time there as assistants at one point or another. You know I've said it before but I could eventually get into this more except Tulsa and Tulane...ugh. I just can't fathom playing those schools

Memphis has been in our current position forever. The AAC is a major upgrade for them so it is understandable that they love the conference. I don't know of one UConn fan (all on this board included) that wouldn't be thrilled to leave for the ACC or BIG. Until and if that happens this conference is probably a good place for us.Most Memphis fans love the AAC... the only time UCONN fans will love the AAC is the minute after we join either the BiG or the ACC... not meant to disrespect Memphis, just the truth from a uconn perspective.
Keep in mind that if SMU gets into the dance this year (and I have at least three sites projecting them in right now, including ESPN), then that would mean HALF of the teams in the AAC would be dancing. That's a pretty impressive stat for a new league:
